Neither team is really that good? You see Ohio States LBer's flying around and making tackles? Did you see how well they tackled all night long? Did you see Ohio State's OLine? They were dominant against Wiskey. Dominant against Bama and dominant against Oregon. If you watched the 2nd half against Alabama, Ohio State was in control. To me, our wideouts look lankey... fast with great hands, maybe so.... but they won't be able to break free from press/jamming at the line against elite-level competition. So it won't matter how good our QB's are if our receivers can't get open. Our DLine, IMO, is not nearly as stout as Ohio State's or Alabama's. And Oregon.... 2 weeks ago they whipped the defending National Champions who were on a 2 season winning streak. If everyone will remember.... we had a stud QB, 2 NFL WR and an NFL RB in 2013 and we still lost 3 games.
No sir..... DLine -- not what it was a few years ago Lankey WR -- won't be able to get open against press coverage No QB -- 7 for 14 will NEVER cut it Too many Jr's leaving early for NFL Too many silly penalties --- delay of game or false start coming out of a Time out (for example)
This is what passes for objectivity?? I know it's tough for the SEC-SEC-SEC crowd to admit, but Ohio St has every bit as much speed and talent as the best teams in the SEC and more than most. Sorry to break it to you, but they probably will be better next year.
Well, playoffs were asked for and what happens when you have a playoff, the best team doesn't always win, the hottest team wins, ask Eli and the Giants.
What I saw last night was a changing of the guard. Ohio St. is now built like the SEC teams that used to win all those championships. Urban took what he learned at Florida playing tough games every week and built a team that would be able to do just that. As far as Oregon they are the best 2nd place team out there. They will never win a championship until they get physical. They got their ass handed to them because they can not punch anyone in the mouth. They are pure finesse, I thought after watching them in the rose they were showing some toughness, but now I believe FSU was just overrated.
Changing of the guard, are you fkn serious? All of that based on one season? Nostradamus is that you?
Yeah one 1 win for the big boys in the Big 10 over the big boys in the SEC doesn't mean there is a changing of the guard. Maybe a wake up call for the rest of the SEC.
And with the BCS, the best teams aren't usually in the game. Without the change, this year we would have been watching Bama and FSU. Last night featured 2 of the arguably best teams in the country RIGHT NOW. FSU was overrated. Way too early for changing of the guard though. A minor shift perhaps and particularly with the selection process. I would like to point out that if the NCAA hadn't gone soft when Tressel got caught lying about violations, they wouldn't have been in a bowl game.
maybe not a changing of the guard YET. but that conference is set up pretty well now. osu is centrally located and will pull talent from all over the country. along with a championship and coach of cum quality they will undoubtably continue to be a serious threat. and then with harbaugh at michigan now there is no doubt in my mind that program will be resurrected. lsu needs to enforce that gate around the state and cherry pick talent from other regions. we also need to fix our glaring weakness at quarterback and make sure the coaching is flexible enough to change what ain't working. i'm certainly open to the thought of transferring in quality quarterbacks because it doesn't seem we can develop qb's that have been in clm system the full 4 years. and as for flexibility of coach think...i have to think that won't happen until we have a new HC.
So you think Oregon would have beaten Alabama? The Sugar Bowl decided the national champion. Oregon got their asses rolled up and smoked like a blunt.
