Well my 75 year old ass is on the line this weekend big time. We lose it will take a pack of dog to lick all the egg off my face. I think I have a decent idea of where we are with this team. If I am wrong and we lose I am for starting a coaching search. WE SHOULD NOT LOSE TO KENTUCKY.
My issue is we can't seem to get an identity on offense. We look unsettled and confused at times. Is Peetz over his head or does our O line absolutely stink and makes the whole offense stink? Is Max having a sophomore slump? If O wants to keep this job he better fix this. Bringing E back if true to I guess settle down Peetz would be a positive thing. I will give O this. Read his press conference from yesterday and he said at least 3 times it's all on him and layed out what he thinks needs to be fixed. I agreed with everything he said needed fixing. Some here think he threw some coaches under the bus, I didn't see it that way. Telling the media and us what needs to be fixed is not throwing coaches under the bus. Had he not said it's all on him than yes he would be throwing coaches under the bus.
It is O’s fault, but thus far Peetz has also failed. The OL sucks, MJ is young, but abandoning the run is a no-no.
That ship has sailed my friend, the wheels are already in motion. I'm telling you. From the start of the season, it was well known that O was on thin ice based on last season and his off the field antics. Word was 9 wins or he was gone. There was no way Woodward and the heavy handed boosters would tolerate another .500 year in SEC play. Losing to UCLA eliminated the chance for 9 wins AND 1 game better than .500 in SEC play being an option. So, even if he goes 5-3 in SEC play, that loss to UCLA did him in. He knows, insiders know it and most fans know it. At this point, it would take winning every remaining game except Bama and losing to Bama in competitive fashion for him to have a chance at being the coach next year. Do you see that happening? Its possible. Even then, from what I am hearing, a change is still quite possible due to the off the field shit.
I just cant believe he put his future in in the hands of a rookie OC who had never called a play in his life. I think Peetz is a smart coach with a very high football IQ, but its obvious that either a). Coach O is Meddling and handcuffing him or b). Peetz just cant handle the pressure up there in the box and doesn't know how to make in game adjustments as well he can script up his first couple drives. I've said it before, LSU is not a "learn on the job" program. That falls on Coach O either way and it ultimately has sealed his fate in Baton Rouge.
If the off the field shit is as bad as rumored than fire him quickly. Why you ask? This would send a signal to the parents of recruits that we dont put up with this behavior from our coaches. However if these rumors are false and we go 9-3 in this conference we would be making a huge mistake firing O. That would mean our only other loss would be to Bama. Sorry right now I am not with the majority here. O has won since being hired. The 5-5 season in my view had a lot to do with massive attrition to graduations and fleeing to the NFL not to mention opt outs due to Covid and the selfishness of some players. He doesn't get a total pass from me but I cut him a little slack. He still doesn't have one losing season yet. Broken record time. He loses to Kentucky I am on the replace O bandwagon. Will end with this; how would you like to be a Florida or A&M fan right now?
I would say O didn't meddle and maybe should have meddled. I hope the Ensminger thing is true and if so O is making a good move. It's all on O however HE needs to get it right.
It would be hard to fire a 9-3 coach; off-field stuff would have to be bad. But I’d be flabbergasted if we made it to 9-3.
What do you think Florida, A&M, Arkansas and Ole Miss's SEC win loss record will look like in Dec? I bet all will have at least 2 losses with some 3 losses. Fla and A&M already has 2 losses. Would you agree we have a pretty young team this year? Are we improved from last year? Just a few of questions.
Nobody knows if the rumors are true or not. I believe if they are, LSU doesn’t want them made public or confirmed (ongoing investigations and all) and they won’t fire him right now because they want to negotiate a reduced buyout and keep it all behind closed doors. Which would be smart. If they terminate for on the field performance, then I could see a mid season firing. I seriously doubt he gets fired mid-season. If he goes 9-3 he’s most likely safe and will be the HC next year, as mentioned above. I am not an A&M fan or Florida fan. I imagine they feel like we did last year watching their teams underperform. But they both had pretty successful seasons last year and they’re probably in the camp of “this is a one off season due to (fill in the blank) and we will bounce back”. If they don’t bounce back their coaches are most likely on the hot seat next season unless something severely egregious happens this season. Also those 2 programs are a lot more tolerant to 8 or 9 win seasons than we are at LSU. That’s not something new. Miles was fired for 9 win seasons.
