If that's ever the case... the Saints better hurry up and win one now. They'll become the Kansas City Royals if that goes through... or I guess you could say they'd be the New Orleans Saints pre-1986.
The St. Petersburg Times "has it on good authority" that free agent Asante Samuel will sign with the Eagles. ESPN's John Clayton reports the Saints have contacted the Giants about Jeremy Shockey a tight end? just say no
they need everything (on defense), and ultimately won't get anything they want, unless they draft it. The wrong teams have cap room this offseason. Dallas, Philly, Wash, NE being 4 of them. Why would someone like Samuel choose to make 100 mill in NO when he can make 100 mill in Philly, Dallas, Wash, etc... A good example is Zach Thomas. He was all saints until NE and Dallas jumped in. He said at his news conference it was down to "two teams" and they were both playoff teams, so that sums it up there.
Same reason some one like Alex Rodriguez would sign a disgustingly high contract to play in Arlington over New York (at time of his deal).
Y'know, just once in my lifetime, I'd love to see this team make it to the Superbowl...naaaaa, probably never happen until something like 2076 or so.
I hope things keep up like this. They may actually wind up making off season moves that will pay off.
