So here we are 4 days from signing date and sitting @ #24 per 247 Sports.com. I am not positive, but believe we were sitting @ #14 when Kelly was hired. At either # this would probably be the worst recruiting class in the last 10 years. — Anyone with a more definitive low # & year please chime in. — Yes, I realize that any time a coaching change happens some recruits are going to bail and some others will be attracted to the new coaching staff. Anyone want to make predictions on our final recruiting ranking (end of day on Wed) and after the final signing day in Feb. I have read that the 4* RB from Lake Charles may be a late signee. With the change in the coaching staff others who were interested in LSU may also sign late. Convincing some of the recruits to wait to sign may be a strategy for Kelly to significantly improve the quality/quantity of LSU’s signing class.
Firmly outside of the top 10, probably less than 15 and outside the top 20 would not shock me at all. This will be devastating when the rest of the teams we HAVE to beat are in the top 7!
I'll demonstrate how little I know about recruiting. If a recruit signs with a school during the early signing period, can he change his mind and sign with another school during the national signing period?
Until they started F'ing with the rules during Covid, I would have said no, the letter of intent is binding. I just don't know anymore.
