The receivers do seem to have issues getting separation but it is hard to blame the coach for all of the dropped balls. The failure to properly utilize Shepard is puzzling. Boone made a highlight-reel diving catch yesterday, rated the #2 top play by ESPN. And Landry's downfield blocking scored a touchdown or his man would have had Ford at the five.
I dont think the route running is as crisp as before. The biggest thing is the WRs lack speed to get great separation. The drops are a big lack of focus that seems to be plaguing the team as a whole. Hence all the boneheaded penalties. I dont think ANY coach on O has done much of a job.
WR play has been erratic, but its hard to say why. One week they can't get open, the next week they can't catch and the next week the QB can't get them the ball. They make spectacular catches but can't catch the routine. Im not impressed by the new WR coach but its early to say whether he pans out or not. Id like to see some sign of improvement soon.
FYI Sweet FilipinoCupid add on this site!!!!! Yes, there is a huge timing issue between the WRs and Mett.... Not sure what is up with that..
I think Adam Henry has done a nice job, our small ass receivers are doing an excellent job of blocking in the run game. Can't teach a receiver how to catch a football, how is that on the coach?
Speed doesn't create separation. Good route running and lateral quickness create separation. If speed created separation, Eric Martin would have never caught a pass.
