I'm listening to Hannigrif and Rush right now. They were talking about Trey Burton and Florida. Did they need to use it against Kentucky? No. But guess what, every team that Florida plays from now on will have to spend a huge portion of their practice working on how to defend it. That means there is less time to work on other things. Getting practice reps isn't the same as game reps.
Exactly and why, in the end, it comes down to execution. All that "hide it" shyt is shyt. If that were the case HS coaches wouldn't meet on Saturday mornings and swap game film the week before they played one another.
Or Ridley, I'm sure you know it doesn't have to be a QB and you're only responding to the line of thought. I also think, all things considered, Shep would be the best choice.
Exactly when do you think we'd really need it? If Miles didn't pull it out of his bag of tricks the past two weekends when we're losing in the final few minutes, I see no reason for him to later on. I mean he used a fake FG against Florida for christ sake.
We didn't lose those games and Miles was definitely using new plays. That straight pitch to the running back that scored in no-time vs Tennessee had never been run before. The fake punt at Florida was a trick play and not shown this season. Do you seriously think that we've shown the entire playbook already? Amigo, there will be new plays run in every game including the final. All teams do this. As far as the wildcat, we've shown it already with a big bruising quarterback. Rival DC's haven't seen the versions of it with the fast, elusive Shepard but you can bet that LSU practices it and will use it when the circumstances are right. It is said that they have practiced it with Ware also. You haven't seen the reverse much either, but it's in the playbook and some team is going to overcommit and be burned by it. You haven't seen the halfback pass, but Randle, Shepard, and Ware were all high school quarterbacks. We haven't shown the screen pass much, so rival defenses don't practice it much ahead of the LSU game. We will burn one of those defenses with screens before the season is over.
Exactly, it doesnt exist in LSU's playbook. Dont hold your breath, CLM is not saving anything for anybody. And if we do for some reason see more RS back there taking direct snaps, its because the only run play designed for him (WR Sweep) can be spotted a mile away now and has become ineffective. Id love to see more of RS & Ware & Blue & Even Ridley back there every now and again taking direct snaps, just to give the opposing team another thing to watch for.
