It appears it will be San Diego type weather Saturday in Tuscaloosa...sunny and 72. How do you think this will affect the game?

I think it could play into LSUs favor. With the way we've been running the ball (or not), I'd rather see conditions that allow for throwing the ball. Also, with the way THEY run the ball, I'd rather see conditions that allow THEM to throw it.

    Thoughts?

Seems neutral to me. Good weather will help both offenses.

One good thing for LSU - no wet footballs for the long snapper.

Not sure about Bama, but we do have experience in the rain this year. However, concerning the weather helping both offenses, I disagree. As I mentioned, their running game is heads and shoulders above LSUs. But their passing game is not. Our passing game is on the way up, theirs on the way down. They have Julio Jones, which for some reason continues to scare people. But for crying out loud, he has 18 catches and 1 TD...to go along with his 4 TDs all last year. Our WR crew is heads and shoulders above theirs. That's why I think it makes a difference. If the weather allows passing the ball, seems we would have the better chance to succeed. JJ is no Dan Marino, but again...improving, while GMac is declining. His red zone completion percentage is like 27%! Also, our secondary is better than theirs overall, so it would seem to be another reason we could excel in the passing game more than they will.

Makes sense to me, Fish. Good points.

I guess my take is that Bama's defense is every bit as good as billed, and LSU's defense is better than the stats show.

So I think the game will come down to who makes the fewest mistakes. And a dry field will help Bama, who will RUN THE BALL ANYWAY, to hold onto the ball. The same dry field will help Jefferson be more accurate.

It's a good subject. I'll hang up and listen.

lord, isnt that the truth. we have had, what, two maybe dry games?

that said, id rather dry weather here on out. we need passing and running. we arent gonna get it done with just the run.

for selfish reasons, id like to see dry weather especially for the home games.

You guys shouldn't have a problem stopping the run...It is Bama's QB you should worry about.Chavis knows Bama and how to stop the ground game.
As a Vol fan, our biggest issue with Chavis was his pass defense, especially on second and third down and long situations. He has a tendency to run the defense too deep in coverage sometimes..

Jones scares me based on his season last year. This year he has missed some games and is suffering the dreaded sophomore slump . . . but nobody wants to face him when he breaks out of it.

    Peterson maybe . . .
