Under normal circumstances I might agree. Ted Tollner, Larry Smith, and Paul Hackett were 3 of the worst coaches in USC history. They combined to give Notre Dame an 11-year winning streak and one tie which made it 13 years before USC got another win. Clay Helton is absolutely Hackett-esque. This team has no heart, no fight, no pride. Helton has no sack. We have lost 2 in a row to teams with sub-par talent. ucla's RB put up 289 yards rushing on Saturday! The Irish have a far superior team. USC is about to get smoked like a cheap cigar.
Your team is loaded with talent. In the top 5 or 6 based on the star rating on the roster according to 247. I don't know where the link is because I heard it on the radio last week. LSU is 7th. Ohio State 1 Alabama 2. Both LSU and USC are ahead of #8 Clemson. Despite all of our grumbling abiut the offense it lliks like the Trojans made a big mistake not giving the job to Oeaux when they had the chance.
Star ratings were there. We don't juice, we don't practice in full pads, we don't tackle in practice. Clay inherited crazy talent but the current crop is on him and he hasn't recruited well on the lines. There's just too much "fluffy" language and not enough "kick their ass". He lost the players and once you see it on social media, it's down hill. Maybe, maybe not. With Ed as HC, he likely would have retained Clay as the OC. Not sure what he would have done on the defensive side. I'm not sure we'd be any better but doubtful we could be any worse.
The way LSU makes it to the playoffs is 1. Better OL play next year 2. Better WR play next year 3. Somehow convince Devin White to stay for his Sr. Year 4. Fire Ensminger and get someone that can actually develop and install a real offense THIS YEAR
The only way White is coming back is if Alleva takes some of that buyout rebate money and matches White's NFL bonus.
