My understanding is they used an Israeli firm to do it. However in the end my point originally was and still is, nothing made my man is secure, Your examples of how they may have done it makes that point sufficiently.

"The encryption chip on the iPhone uses a powerful algorithm called AES to protect customer data. Each iPhone has a unique number called an encryption key that is needed to scramble or unscramble the data on the iPhone. This key is 256 bits long — that is, a string of 256 1s and 0s — which means there a trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion possible values for an iPhone's encryption key.

Apple doesn't keep copies of these encryption keys. And if you wanted to crack the iPhone's encryption by "brute force" — guessing until you find the right one — it would take many lifetimes, even if every computer on the planet were working on it."

Like I said, it's not really possible to break the encryption. It's far more likely they used some other technique to open it. A trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion trillion is a big number.

Yes, man made things are secure. like I said, this encryption was not necessarily broken. It's the the short-digit passcode they probably used to open it. If you had to type a 512 bit key, things would be different.

I have been using the same four number pin for everything, even my combination bike lock, for 20 years. I ink this is probably true of most people.

Dude governments have been breaking each other's encryption for as long as there have been governments. Apple's encryption is no impenetrable wall in this regard. If enough of the worlds spy agencies want your shit your not going to keep it secret. Believe what you want...
