My uncle got an e-mail from LSU the other day for two tickets and is selling them to my brother and me to attend our first bowl game ever. Needless to say I'm pretty pumped up about it with the icing on the cake being able to watch our team shut up those kool-aid drinkers at aTm...you can't imagine how much crap you hear from a team who plays 45 minutes from my house. Who else is going? Let's hear a roll call! Question: if we received tickets from LSU does that mean we're seated in the LSU section or are tickets scattered?
I don't have tickets and I'm not paying 200+ per ticket to go to the game. I'm on the fence on if I'm going to head over to Arlington and tailgate all day and hope to find a ticket or just throw a big party at my house in Dallas.
I have a question: does anybody know how and where to pick up the cotton bowl tickets? I've requested two no-seat student tickets and received an email the other day from the LSU athletic office confirming that my order has been "fulfilled in its entirety". However, it didn't mention when and where to pick up the ticket, but only said someone would call. I've yet to receive any phone call so far. Have any of you received your tickets already?
I also decided to save my big bucks for the LSU/Oregon game next season. At least, we won't be competing with Aggies for all the tickets.
Last year, when there was a possibility that we would be in the Cotton Bowl, the Dallas Alumni Chapter asked me if I would cook jambalaya in exchange for tickets for me and my family. I was ready then. This year, having just moved home and having made the drive up there 5 times in the last few months, I am just not interested in going. I'm gonna be at home in front of my big screen.
Last email I got said both DFW chapters were combining forces and meeting at Humperdinks in Arlingoton FWIW. I would have liked the jambo!!! (know how to cook small batch, need to learn how to cook for many in big pot):geauxtige
That's correct as to the tailgate. Jerry World is pretty anal about tailgating. It would have been a lot harder to make it work there. Cooking for crowds in big pots is really pretty easy once you've done it a couple times. With my really big pot, I can cook for 900 just as quickly as I can cook for 200 in one of my smaller pots. My big pot has a huge burner and is at least 1/2" thick all the way through. Once you get it hot, dumping 200# of meat in it doesn't really cool it down. ETA: If you ever need a recipe for a specific sized crowd, let me know and I'll help you out.
