I think most of us are still interested in what happens with LSU Football, I know I am. As far as other teams pulling their hair out trying to figure out how to stop us, well....
So, recognizing a fact makes one a "blind follower?" I don't think you are paying close attention. What we are saying is that it is senseless to blame a coach for a player's shortcomings.
Look, I like Les Miles as a person. I've had the pleasure of interacting with him on a personal level a couple of times, great guy. He seems to be a good man, husband and father, which are all very admirable. But, I know a number of guys that are all of those and aren't being paid nearly $4 million to be the head football coach at LSU. Everything begins and stops with Les Miles, he's the head coach. Whether it's the QB situation since RP, the O-line attrition, player's shortcomings, the defense's inability to get off the field on 3rd down or apply pressure, communication issues...etc. all of this stops with him, that's why he's paid the money he is. Like any of us that have responsibilities in our jobs, Les has his and they are HUGE responsibilities for which he is compensated well. However, if he can't deliver, which he hasn't the last two seasons, and this is a business of immediacy, then if it's more of the same following the 2010 season then likely he will no longer be the head coach at LSU in 2011.
Dudes on contract through the 2011 season... with the size of his buyout, I garuntee you he won't be gone before the end of the '11 season regardless of what happens next year.
What you fail to see is that its the coaches short coming to insert him in at WR and RB. Where he can get the ball and go. I know he isnt a QB, but he certainly should be getting more touches. As for players short comings. Yes we seen a lot of that this year. To an extent that is in the coaches as well because they arent coaching them up like was done before. Sit some kids down when they arent up to par and give someone else a chance. Sometimes you find a diamond in the ruff or you put a spark in a kid when he sits. Ciron Black would have been a prime example.
You are totally speculating about RS's shortcomings. Come on! I am positive that he could have learned one pass play (even two). Really would not have been that hard to do, he is a bright guy. So it makes you wonder who has the shortcomings. Let's look at it another way. Do you feel that Trindon was under utilized over his career? My guess is that LesCrow have no idea what to do, mainly b/c Crowton has to stick with his same plays. IMO it really falls on his shoulders.
I don't think that Les's office gives a rip about what goes on here. And never will. If anyone on his staff comes here, it's for a good laugh after a tough day.:geaux:
Are you saying that we all know Shepard doesn't have the arm? If so, I have to ask, how would we have any idea what kind of arm he has since he has yet to throw a pass in a college game and team practices are generally closed? Keep in mind that most people who have seen some practices claimed JJ, JL and RS all seemed to have about the same throwing power, velocity and accuracy. He looked pretty darn impressive in his high school videos throwing, although he was definitely utilized more as a runner. If that isn't what you meant....um sorry, please disregard this message
It doesn't make me wonder. It's Les' job on the line, if Shepard had the stuff at QB, we would have seen him throw the ball. Reports out of practice have said that he isn't hitting receivers. Other teams recruited him as a RB/WR. No. I'm shocked that Trindon completed a four-year football career in the SEC uninjured. He's five foot nuthin' and a hundred and nuthin'. He would never have taken the pounding of an every-down back in the SEC at his size. I think the coaches have used him masterfully at return specialist and change-up running back.
I know his contract runs through 2011 and that he has a large buyout but I still believe that he will be fired if LSU has another year like these last two. They would come to some payment schedule and it would be taken care of.
