get consistent play at QB we are a national championship contender. Straight up. Defense It feels like this team is going back to some of our better defensive teams that we had recently under Bo Pelini and under our former head coach. Chavis is year two seems to have the benefit of the best CB to ever play at LSU in Patrick Peterson. That allows us to bring heat. ST Peterson and Jasper. Enough said. Outstanding. Offense Our offensive line really seems to have stepped up it's game. The loss of Blackwell may come back to hurt but T Bob is doing okay. Ridley, Blue, Ware, Murphy outsanding set of backs. Our WR's core is probably top 3 in the nation. (It's only because I don't know them all we might be the best) As so many have said before it all comes down to the QB position. Regardless of whether it's pop warner, high school, college or the NFL without a consistent above average (not great) performer this is a national championship contender. I still think Jordan Jefferson will not get us there. Lee may have improved but until he is able to show it in game conditions it will be hard to tell. Maybe RS could be our Denard Robinson. Probably not but just saying. It's such a shame because I really feel this team has almost all of the pieces to be a viable contender with anyone in the country including Alabama outside of the QB position.
i'm NOT writing this season off by any means, but you have to feel optimistic for the future, no? people who want to run miles off right now aren;t being proactive. we are a QB away that the coaching staff feels confident in from winning another title. :geauxtige:lsup::champs:
A quote from the BR paper this morning: The Tigers rank last in the SEC in pass offense with 120 yards a game. The one statistic that counts most, he said, is LSU’s 3-0 start. “I’m here to win games,” Jefferson said. “If you follow it by yards, that’s just being selfish.” I am a long-time Tiger fan and have seen many games over the years. In a sense JJ is correct, winning is the name of the game. However, I do believe if this team, and JJ in particular, cannot generate more than 100+/yds. a game, we will be in trouble when we get to the meat of our schedule. There are teams we will play that will slow down our running game, and if we can't throw the ball for more yards... I've always supported Les, but I admit I am starting to waver. Here's my other problem. Miles said himself that JL 'deserves some meaningful snaps' due to the fact that he has been practicing so well. So he puts him in with five minutes to go just to hand the ball off. That's meaningful??? I know CLM is stubborn, but don't say something like that during the week and not follow through. What I don't like is that during JL's disastrous season as a redshirt freshman, they didn't worry about destroying his confidence because they had no one else to turn to. However, with JJ's performance, I don't think it would hurt to give JL some 'meaningful snaps'. Let's see where he is. I compliment JJ on a nice read and run for the TD, and if we could see him play with that kind of confidence all the time, fine, but I just don't have the feeling we are going to see that for the whole game. I truly believe we may have the defense to contend for a title, but the offense is another question. With the teams we have to play, there will be at least a game or two or three where our defense, no matter how good, will get worn out if our offense can't give them some support.
