Well, The Celtics traded away Perkins, which leaves them with Shaq, and Jermaine O'Neal at the center position, with some minutes from others, but none really significant. The question is, is this the last hoorah for Shaq. Can he turn it on the last half of the season and playoffs and be the big body in the middle that the Celtics need to win a championship, or at least the East?
Are you kidding me, trade Perkins, incredible. Your enforcer, defensive presence, team attitude adjuster, match up nightmare. Somewhere this morning in Oky city there is joy in mudville. Boston, did you just trade your best inside player for a good wing dude that James can guard in his sleep. :rolleye33: Unbelievable.
the reason they traded him was because of his inury and the fact that his huge contract was about to expire. It's happening all over the league, same thing happened with Utah. They don't to end up with nothing.
Take your "World Championship" and in July worry about it. Shaq better get in the way back machine and get his rest.
His "huge" 5 million dollar contract? Gimme a break dude. That was like stealing. Sir Charles said it best during the playoffs last year when talking about the Thunder "you better beat their ass now because you won't be able to for long" Look the hell out!
no i must have misstated, he was going to want a huge contract after his was up, he was in the last year of it, and the Celtics didn't want to have to go through what happened with Lebron and them get left with nothing. I think he is a solid player, and it does make OKC look really scary if KP can stay healthy.
Perkins is a superb role player who brings a boat load of in tangents to the party. He ain't Carmelo or James and he is well aware of that. Don't see him being injured as the reason for this mess. Oky City sent Tyson Chandler back to New Orleans because he couldn't pass the physical. The Thunder knows what Boston knows. Pay close attention to the chemistry and body language here on out. If Shaq can stay upright and that other O'neal has anything left, maybe. Otherwise, Danny Ainge got some explaining to do.
I completely agree, I would have kept Perkins. The games he missed in the finals last season killed the Celtics.
