    Houston Chronicle:
"Dwight Howard left his agent’s office Tuesday afternoon, slipped out of a pinstriped jacket, and squeezed behind the wheel of a white Ferrari hatchback without coming close to tipping his hand. “I had a lot of great meetings,” Howard said. And with that, the NBA’s most coveted big man and longtime top Rockets target took off"

    ESPN:
"I had a lot of great meetings," said Howard, who was wearing a pinstriped suit jacket and slacks. Howard then made his way to a white Ferrari and drove off"

Dwight Howard has many cars, but the white Ferrari he's been spotted driving lately is a $300,000 Ferrari FF. Ferrari states that the FF is the world's fastest four-seat automobile. It also has the largest engine ever available in a production Ferrari, a 6.3-liter V12 that makes 651-horsepower and 504 lb-ft of torque. The Ferrari FF will accelerate from 0-60 in 3.7 seconds and has a 208-mph top speed.

in addition to billboards, the Lakers have also taken out full-page color ads in the Los Angeles Times for their #STAYD12 campaign

writer Charlie Pierce (writer for Esquire, etc and author of books such as national bestseller Idiot America: How Stupidity Became a Virtue in the Land of the Free)

    defines NBA free agency as:

"whatever team was dumb enough to fall for Dwight Howard's annual con this season"

"the biggest carnival of egos...NBA players are never more insufferable than when they are putting themselves up for bid...nakedly mercenary behavior"

"Is there any good reason for anyone to believe anything Dwight Howard says at this point?...Is there a bigger fake in this league? Seriously, the guy came into the NBA with a smile on his face and Bible verses on his shoes, and there hasn't been a player in my memory who's dived for every nickel with the enthusiasm this guy has demonstrated...this guy is simply never happy. He wasn't happy in Orlando. He wasn't happy in L.A., and he's not going to be happy wherever he ends up next....Please, Houston, sign this guy. Moses Malone will come back from retirement just to kick his ass....Hell, wait around long enough, and Howard likely will get around to signing with your team."

The Dallas-based publication Central Track (focusing on Dallas music, restaurants, bars, nightlife, fashion, sports, art) is currently listing 34 free offers from the DFW area to Dwight if he comes to Dallas (and this is legit, because the official twitter webpages of these companies are tweeting the offers as well), including:

--A free acoustic show from North Texas' Platinum-selling rock band Bowling for Soup at Dwight's Dallas residence

--A studio session with Dallas-based 4-time-Grammy Award-winning singer Erykah Badu.

--A hour of radio time each Sunday night on KDGE 102.1-FM The Edge

--A Saturday morning radio show on CBS' The Indie-verse called "The Superman Hour with Superman Howard."

--A private suite for all shows and concerts at the Allen Event Center

--Four free tickets to opening night of every touring Broadway show booked to the Winspear Opera House during Dwight's time with the Mavericks

--Unlimited access to all shows at the House of Blues's Dallas location.

--A private, roped-off "Dwight Howard Only" section for Dwight and his guests (as noted with a permanent sign to be installed in the club) -- plus the creation of a to-be-determined signature drink named after Dwight -- at Uptown hotspot and noted Dirk Nowitzki hangout The Travis.

--A lifetime movie pass to the landmark Texas Theatre

--Free vodka for life from North Texas' Western Sons Vodka

--free meals at multiple restaurants, free admission to various music venues and comedy clubs, free auto repair, free yoga, a free CD a week from a record store, free traffic ticket defense from a local attorney, free DJing services, free ice cream, etc

    Sporting News:

“Well, there is one guy we are all waiting on,” as one prominent agent put it. “There is not much you can do until he makes his decision, and then you will see a lot of stuff start to fall in line. But there is a lot that is being left in a holding pattern, because so many teams are waiting to see what he does.”

Five teams—you know, one-sixth of the league—made presentations to Howard over a three-day period, and those teams are hamstrung for the time being. But the impact of the wait goes beyond them. Consider the ripple effects (and then they go on to explain all the other teams and players that are tied up until Dwight makes his Decision)

    Yahoo Sports:

"The Rockets have put themselves in position to pull this off," one source with knowledge of Howard's decision-making process said. "If he wants to win right now – and be set up to keep winning – it's hard to make a case for anyone but Houston."
    ...
Whatever he chooses promises to have an immense impact on the NBA – from the glorious Lakers franchise, to the final years of Kobe Bryant's career, to the transformation of the Rockets into an NBA power again.

Dwight told Houston he wanted them to bring in a 3rd star in addition to Harden and he, and:

“League sources told CBSSports.com on Tuesday night that the Rockets acted quickly on Howard’s desire to bring another star to Houston with him and have begun their pursuit of Smith, the Hawks’ free agent forward and Howard’s former AAU teammate in Atlanta, in a sign-and-trade arrangement.”

USA Today Sports: “According to two people with knowledge of the situation, the Rockets’ meeting with free agent forward Josh Smith included a discussion about a possible partnership with him and his childhood friend from Atlanta in Howard.”

Rick Gosselin of The Dallas Morning News:

I think everything points to Houston...I think Cuban will make it interesting...Cuban knows you really need the star, you need the bell cow to win in the NBA more than in any other sport. You need a free agent superstar.
