There was / were a lot of:
    • conservative and boring plays called
    • sloppy play
    • OL line too porous
    • playing to the level of competition
    • ...
Saw that and really not too concerned about the way this game went against an outmatched opponent playing the first game of the season under a new QB with a lot of young / inexperienced guys taking the field. Really don't see any issues that a little coaching, extra reps and experience won't fix.

First, Mett is a real QB. The look in his eyes, the confidence, how he manages what's happening on the field etc. He behaves like a true QB is supposed to behave. There's room to grow and he will. He's tough (that was a mean shot) and he can throw some nice passes into small windows. Finally, I thought he managed the space in the pocket well. It's so nice to see a QB that is looking downfield, making small steps to buy time and making good throws. Everything is there. He just needs more time on the field.

I like our linebackers. This was one area where there was a lot of concern and I thought these guys looked good. It's going to be fun watching these guys develop. And speaking of fun, Mingo is going to be fun to watch this year. Lightning in a bottle. Hell ... pick a player on that DL and tell me they aren't fun to watch. Young guys in the secondary have got the talent, just need experience and they are going to get it this week.

RB's not a lot more that you can say. Look at the stats from the game, look who delivered them and then realize that there are a lot of yards on that bench that did not get significant playing time. That's called gas in the tank baby and its gonna come in handy down the road.

Beckham is going to be fun to watch pretty much anywhere he plays on the field. How many PR can you take to the house? Too bad he didn't get credit for all of them. Oh ...and we do have a couple of other receivers on this team who are going to make some plays this year.

I even liked the backup punter. How about a nice little scramble, chasing a loose ball which you gather up and boot down to the 15.

So ... yes I'm drinking the kool aid, I'm hyped about another season of Tiger Football and I'm soaking it all up through my rose colored glasses. Football is back baby, this team is loaded and they looked like a high performance machine that just needs to have a little wedge adjustment and maybe drop a little air in the right side tires.

Preach on brother man. I enjoyed watching the Tigers put over 500 yds on offense. And if not for the penalties we'd have hung 55 points on them. North Texas played some good football and I think our guys went in with a rent a win attitude. The OL was a little to pourous but I believe they'll get that fixed. Defense was on like a pitbull on a pork chop most part but did get burned a few times. Loved the backup punte, we've got the coolest punters in the nation.
Mett did fine considering the pressure on him. He knows tiger nations eyes are on him and we, the fans, have a tendency to be to hard on the team and coaches at times. Mett will settle down and get his groove and when he does watch out. Running backs were impressive. Like watching Sherman tanks rolling across a battlefield. ODB , wow ! Gonna be fun watching him this season. Reid got burned and admitted it. Said he let receiver get position on him. But give NT receiver credit, Reid couldn't catch him cause that guy was fast. I was quite pleased with overall team play. They'll work out some kinks and kick ass this year.

Our run defense is the best thing i can comment on. Im glad ur so positive about mett, that red zone int was pretty sad. Lsu better get all the game losing errors out of their system before we play quality opponents.

    Good post.

    Two points:
    1. The pass plays looked different to me. I do not understand why people think it is bad to take a 5 yard pass when the coverage is 10 yards back. Even Mett stated there was nothing wrong with taking what they were giving!
    2. The team will improve. Lots of teams looked terrible in their openers.

Man, the Gumps sure did not. (As much as I hate to say it)
    They looked scary good.

    We better get better.

And last year we looked scary good against Oregon, while Bama started with a scrub. It's what happens.

November 3rd is going to be a blood bath.

Agree Stacey. This game has no bearing on what transpires in November. It will be a blood bath and we will play with a chip on our shoulder. While we will never admit that revenge will play a factor, it will provide tremendous motivation (like it did for Bama in the BCS). They were out to prove they were the better team.
Let's hope both teams will be undefeated when they meet in Death Valley. It will be another game of the century. But let's not get ahead of ourselves......

So I actually Attended the mich vs Bama game.. Bama is good like most in the sec. But I would tap the breaks a bit. Michigan is atypical top tier big 10 team vs. the sec. Gets hammered... Bama has some issues no different than the rest of us.. They were many holes in their secondary... But Robinson is a really bad qb throwing the ball. Trust me Bama is good but if michigan played LSU or Arkansas the score would be the same. Matter of fact look at the box score after michigan handed them 21 points on sloppy play...

Michigan looked like shit. Denard was hitting Bama players like they were Wolverines. Bama was good but Michigan made them look great. Michigan should be in 20-25 rankings.

keep in mind that the season before last, Alabama curb-stomped #7 Michigan State (11-1, Big Ten Co-Champs) by a score of 49-7. They also blew out Tennessee 41-10, Florida 31-6, Georgia State 63-7, Duke 62-13, and San Jose State 48-3

that Bama team was loaded like all Bama teams are nowadays (4 of their players went in the 1st Round of the 2011 Draft alone...Dareus, Jones, Carpenter, Ingram...while LSU just had Peterson go 1st Round in that draft and National Champs Auburn only had 2...Newton and Fairley)

yet, Bama lost 3 times that season...to LSU, South Carolina, and Auburn...and they only beat Arkansas by 4 and Ole Miss by 13

also, you have to remember how vastly overrated Michigan is. yes, they finished #9 last year, but look at who they played...they lost to 7-6 Iowa and only beat three teams that got a single vote in the final coaches poll... they beat #36 Notre Dame by 4 (ND was 8-5 and only got 1 single vote in the poll) and they beat #24 Nebraska and #17 Virginia Tech...and they lucked out beating Virginia Tech (VT outgained Michigan 377 yards to 184, 22 first downs to 12, and VT held Michigan to 56 rushing yards total)

finally, on top of not being that great in the first place at 100% strength, Michigan wasn't close to 100% vs Bama... they were severely crippled without half of their great 2-headed dragon rushing attack vs Bama...they had Robinson (1,176 rushing yards last season), but Toussaint (1,041 rushing yards last year) didn't play vs Bama
