for the years he spent with LSU, the changes he made in the attitude with the fans, administration, and football operations. the upgrade in facilities and bringing LSU to the level it currently sustains and better, then yes, he will be one of my favorite coaches. i despise the fact that he is at bama now and think just like most tiger fans, had he gone to colorado or arizona or syracuse or somewhere innocuous like that then most of us would think of him fondly. i don't know but he is a special part of LSU football history (like miles is now) and i hope one day when looking back i'll feel the same way. but screw bama!
