I will always pull for the conference because having an SEC team win the NC, though they may be a bitter rival, inevitably helps LSU.
I don't actually see where the SEC winning a title this year helps LSU. If it's not us, it's one or the other of a bitter rival who recruits against us. Geaux, I mean HOOK 'EM, Horns!
And UT doesn't? I don't see where LSU has been lacking talented recruits. No school is going to get every recruit they want. Recruits go to a school that gives them the best opportunity to play on the field and for championships. There's nothing wrong with having to compete with SEC rivals. The best recruiting tool is prestige of the conference, in general. The big issue, though, is the same as what Red (I think it was him, disregard if I'm wrong) said - the revenue that's spread across the SEC, part of which goes to facilities, which, in turn, helps recruiting. Personally, though, if LSU had to lose, I would rather them have had to lose to an eventual national champion, and it certainly can't hurt LSU's final ranking, either.
I like how 69.57% of y'all think (as of 8:41pm)! "familiarity breeds contempt" - THIS. In the past several years I have been a Tiger fan, a Trojan fan and a Gator fan while watching OU lose the mnc. And I'd be for the aliens too. :geaux:
You know what? I might feel like this - IF either SEC team representing deserved it. But they don't. End of story.
