I counted 32 players from Oklahoma from the link you gave.

So it appears it is rougly 35 percent.

I didn't count the OK players before, just the out of state players and my math was still incorrect as far as the total players and percentages go.

I think it lists a total of 102 players with 32 being from Oklahoma which would work out to be roughly 31%.

My original point was that Oklahoma relies substantially on out of state recruits and "recruiting" in general to survive and I think the numbers bear this out. We all know what a high profile football program does for the university as a whole and the higher ups at Oklahoma know this all too well which explains dinner with the Oklahoma president.

There is a lot of money riding on the success of Oklahoma football and it makes it's way down.

You have Texas, Florida, California, Mississippi and Louisiana responsible for well over half of the best football talent in the country. Any school outside of those states is probably going to have similar numbers as to what OU has. That's a vast majority of (successful) football teams having to pull significant numbers from outside their own state.

Surely they're all not offering low interest loans for which no payemnt shall ever be requested?

OU has been running a (relatively) clean program for two decades now. Until I have proof otherwise, then I have to beleive it because that's the benefit of a doubt that I want given to the school I love.

I don't get how so many people here are so big into sticking up for OU.

    I think OU sucks.

In the Big 12, the three programs I like most are Texas, Texas A&M and Nebraska... but I doubt I'd ever feel the need to jump to their defense if I saw them bashed. I just don't care about them that much... and I care even less about OU.

I don't get how many feel that trying to be objective is the same as sticking up for someone. When did objectivity become bad?

I think it was the day that 'liberal' and 'progressive' became a dirty words...

I care about the image projected by LSU fans that we're knowledgable, respectful fans and not mouthbreathing, boorish cro-magnons who simply can't understand why some people like the other tribes fire more than our own. Other tribes have plenty to offer, just like ours. In the end, it's about how the individual fits in and our comprehension of how that could be possible is not necessary to that reality to exist. It's ridiculous to see people concoct stories that rationalize the unknowable details for unfathomable reasons.

I can't speak for everyone, but I personally pride myself in being unencumbered by partisanship and struggle to remain that way...

What do your personal feelings for the program have to do with debating about recruiting accusations toward them and the integrity assassinations that go along with those unsubstantiated allegations? I dislike most Big 12 teams, too, including UT and OU, but I do not think it is right to throw out general accusations like "they run a dirty program" b/c they have more out of state recruits. That is what personal prejudices do, they make the rumor mill run wild and turn conjecture into "fact".

Very well stated, and I agree with you fully.

If you want to be completely objective, than cheer for every TD other teams score on LSU just as much as the TDs we score on other teams.

Point is that you two got all riled up when somebody attacked OU, and now you are getting defensive about it. You two care for OU, you have feelings for them.

I don't really get into the whole business of who has the "dirtiest" program, although it was interesting to see that two different writers that write to a broad audience concluded that Oklahoma is one of the top 3 dirtiest programs in recent history.

    Brilliant.

Continuing your unbroken streak of wrongly characterizing other posters and their personal tastes?

But what should anyone expect from a guy that claimed he would have done much better than JaMarcus at LSU if he had JaMarcus Russell's abilities? I am still wondering why you are not starting for the raiders.

Gonna have to disagree there... You remember the deal with AP and their QB?
