I am calling it now. Ok so, not as ballsy as it would have been 5 or 6 years ago, but here's why. Drew Brees, top 3 quarterback in the NFL, best leader in the NFL, hardest worker in the NFL. The Lockout. Some teams are practicing amongst themselves, some aren't. The Saints are. And their practices look like they are normal practices. Drew is also a great Coach. If you watch the practices Drew is holding right now, they are insane. I really feel that this is going to give the Saints a leg up on the entire league. From what I can gather Brady isn't doing this, and Manning is having neck surgery. I think the Lockout is going to hurt every team, but I don't think it's going to have near the effect on the Saints as it will for everyone else, and that is because of Drew Brees. Thoughts?
I won't be quite as brave as you, but I'll make a ballsy call. The next Superbowl Champion will come out of the NFC South.
Even though the Packers went the unconventional route as a #6 seed last year, I think the Saints need to get a 1st round bye with at least one, preferably two home playoff games like the SB season. Avoid road playoff games in frigid temps if at all possible. Two outta tree Dat. I've heard that one of the discussion points is whether to expand the playoff field to 16 teams. It would eliminate the 1st round bye and add four playoff games, which would increase the NFL's total revenue. I like the current playoff format and hope they don't change it for the $$$.
How would history view a 14 or 15-0 season(playoffs included)? Would that team be in the same regard as the 1972 Dolphins? Interesting thought.
