at this spot it's entirely possible to do both multiple times on one lap. it's in a sharp curve not far from a floodgate, so it tends to swirl around a lot. even when there isn't much tide movement elsewhere. there is also the added obstacle of at times heavy boat traffic. makes things more interesting.
what if there was an 11 year old mini-nootch following you in an outboard hitting you with a paddle? because that scenario is definitely plausible.
