"I am not worried about the deficit. It is big enough to take care of itself." "Facts are stupid things." -at the 1988 Republican National Convention, attempting to quote John Adams, who said, "Facts are stubborn things" (sounds like 97% of FSA) "Trees cause more pollution than automobiles." "All the waste in a year from a nuclear power plant can be stored under a desk." "Approximately 80 percent of our air pollution stems from hydrocarbons released by vegetation, so let's not go overboard in setting and enforcing tough emission standards from man-made sources." "We are trying to get unemployment to go up, and I think we're going to succeed." "I've noticed that everyone who is for abortion has already been born." "How are you, Mr. Mayor? I'm glad to meet you. How are things in your city?" -greeting Samual Pierce, his secretary of Housing and Urban Development, during a White House reception for mayors "What does an actor know about politics?" -criticizing Ed Asner for opposing American foreign policy "A tree's a tree. How many more do you need to look at?" --Ronald Reagan (Governor of California), quoted in the Sacramento Bee, opposing expansion of Redwood National Park, March 3, 1966 "Why should we subsidize intellectual curiosity?" --Ronald Reagan, campaign speech, 1980 "...the moral equal of our Founding Fathers." --President Reagan, describing the Nicaraguan contras, March 1, 1985 "Fascism was really the basis for the New Deal." --Ronald Reagan, quoted in Time, May 17, 1976 "I know all the bad things that happened in that war. I was in uniform four years myself." --President Reagan, in an interview with foreign journalists, April 19, 1985. ("In costume" is more like it. Reagan spent World War II making Army training films at Hal Roach Studios in Hollywood.) "We think there is a parallel between federal involvement in education and the decline in profit over recent years." --President Reagan, quoted in USA Today, April 26, 1983 "I favor the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and it must be enforced at the point of a bayonet, if necessary." --Ronald Reagan, Los Angeles Times, October 20, 1965 "I would have voted against the Civil Rights Act of 1964." --Ronald Reagan, Los Angeles Times, June 17, 1966 "If there has to be a bloodbath, then let's get it over with." --Ronald Reagan (Governor of California), quoted in the San Francisco Chronicle, early morning edition, May 15, 1969. (Reagan reveals how he intends to quell student protests in the city of Berkeley, California. Protesters were teargassed and fired upon with buckshot, killing one, blinding another, and wounding 128. Reagan would later declare a state of emergency in the city and send in 2,700 National Guard troops.) "Because Vietnam was not a declared war, the veterans are not even eligible for the G. I. Bill of Rights with respect to education or anything." --Ronald Reagan, in Newsweek, April 21, 1980. Yeah he was great, a great big steaming pile of sh!t. I'm glad my kid doesn't go to the school you want Reagan to be taught at.
wow that's all you got? I guess Reagan gets a pass because he suffered from Alzheimer's for the 8 years he was in the white house?
For as many bad quotes taken out of context I can give good ones. Reagan was a great American. He is a hero of mine. When America was on it's knees from the liberal progressive loser Jimmy Carter Reagan came in and rebuilt our country. He rebuilt a discouraged military and it's his programs that caused us to have the abilities we had in the first gulf war. Even today the abilities our military has comes from the rebuilding he put in place. He didn't go around bowing to Muslim kings. He didn't apologize for America. He made us a proud people again after the Vietnam mess. He stood strong and caused the collapse of communism. He sure as hell didn't appoint communist sympathizers to be his szars to run a closet cabinet. He believed America was greatest of countries and we represent freedom of the American spirit. He was not a weak liberal whimp but a strong compasionate conservative who beloved the American people and knew that the greatest threat to the freedom and prosperity of our country was the federal goverment and the pseudo - Marxist progressive liberal that wishes to control every aspect of our lives. Nothing is more dangerous than the goverment controlled by people who wish to control you.
Wait, according to Sarah Palin, Sputnik caused the collapse of communism. Dude, if I believed in god I would pray for you. Roosevelt's wheelchair was more coherent than that douchebag.
"They tell us we must learn to live with less, and teach our children that their lives will be less full and prosperous than ours have been; that the America of the coming years will be a place where — because of our past excesses — it will be impossible to dream and make those dreams come true. I don't believe that. And, I don't believe you do either. That is why I am seeking the presidency. I cannot and will not stand by and see this great country destroy itself. Our leaders attempt to blame their failures on circumstances beyond their control, on false estimates by unknown, unidentifiable experts who rewrite modern history in an attempt to convince us our high standard of living, the result of thrift and hard work, is somehow selfish extravagance which we must renounce as we join in sharing scarcity. I don't agree that our nation must resign itself to inevitable decline, yielding its proud position to other hands. I am totally unwilling to see this country fail in its obligation to itself and to the other free peoples of the world." — Ronald Reagan "Remember that every government service, every offer of government - financed security, is paid for in the loss of personal freedom... In the days to come, whenever a voice is raised telling you to let the government do it, analyze very carefully to see whether the suggested service is worth the personal freedom which you must forgo in return for such service. " — Ronald Reagan
