don't let martin get you down fella. that's his way of saying that he loves you, and to keep up the good work.
It's a metaphor. The point is that the rich are not taking anything from the poor by taking advantage of these new tax breaks (that they never enjoyed before), they are taking from everybody . . . the nation.
Not without a source. Most of these emails are bogus, I have dismantled many of them. No source . . . no credibility. Nobody doubts that there is waste. But there is a lot of BS accusations out there, too.
They are not taking anything from anybody. They are getting tax breaks that are perfectly legal. Your problem should be with the law, not the people who benefit from it. Should they refuse to take advantage because "it's just not right"? What are you? Jack Armstrong? Life's not fair, Red. I would think you would have learned that by now. Quit being such a big whiney baby about it. It's unattractive. Tell him, Okie.
i dont disagree with any of this. they are clearly fat because they eat poorly and are lazy. personal responsibility is always paramount, as i have routinely posted. but i dont think that, generally, the poor are poor because they are lazy or fat because they are lazy, but because of circumstance. and the reciprocal is true to, generally, the rich are rich because of circumstance not because they are not lazy. i believe in the nurture side of the trading places bet. a good upbringing, in a good environment with a good education and a great majority will turn out good and eventually "rich" by my definition (10x the poverty level). so the whole reason i argue about this stuff is that i think most of you who consistantly berate the poor for being fat and lazy would be the same if you were had the same circumstances and they do. most of you are not special, martin excluded.
i wasnt thinking so much of inheritance of money. id guess the big difference between 89 and now would be the computer and biotech boom. without another coincidence of major tech brakethroughs like that, the number will be back to the 89 level of inheritance again. the other reason i like to argue here about the poor so much is that most of you are christians, and i cant see jesus ripping on the poor. quite the opposite, actually. yet i dont think the profile of many christian posters would be "rich bashers, poor supporters"
I dunno about you, but I'd sure like to get paid April 1st...... I got bills to pay and mouths to feed you know... While they take their sweet ass time and while the president plays golf, I am sitting here trying to figure out if I am going to get paid or not. I'm only 26, serving my country, full time student supporting a wife, whose pregnant and we have a 2 yr old. I dont have enough savings for jacka**es in congress to not sign a defense budget while it takes all of a week to pass a stimulus bill that does jack ****.....
