Hint: It's the money. It is always the money. Daily Reveille - Football: Restored scoreboard honors old contracts
So have the engineering dept design and construct two lightweight additions on either side for the ads. What a waste of 40% of your screen. Unless there is less than 2-3 years left on the existing contracts.
Renegotiate the contracts. Is Coca-Cola going to pull out and let Pepsi come in? I don't think so. Why do the signs have to be up 100% of the time? Change it so that the signs are there during pregame, halftime, time outs, showing videos, etc. Just turn them off for a few seconds and give us the entire wide screen for football replays. The Pause that Refreshes. The Ads would be up 90% of the time to sell the product, but disappear during replays to make the fans happy. Easy fix.
Execpt that when replays are shown is when most people look at the board, which is why advertisers want their ads up all the time.
i would really like to get a look at taf's books. and i agree with red. at some point you take the freakin fans into account in all of this. that seems to have been lost in the quest for more and more $$.
What exactly would you like to know? As a non-profit, their books are wide open if you jusy know where to look.
The money that ticket holders pay to the LSU Athletic department, surcharges to The Tradition Fund, and contributions to the TAF dwarf what LSU gets from corporate sponsors. The AD operates an $85 million dollar budget. You can buy a sponsorship for as little as $50,000.
i'd like to know what they bring in, where it goes, and if and how much they are sitting on. and just where do i look?
