With Trindon putting the ball down a couple of times, where does the return game go from here (other than hopefully in the opposing team's endzone)? Do they reduce the number of returns that Trindon sees? Do they up the number of returns for Chad Jones? Or do you just say screw it and continue to give Trindon all of the returns? I'd continue giving the job to Trindon. Chad Jones is a nice returner, but he won't be able to bust it open as much. Regardless of whether he returns another touchdown or not, Trindon's going to put fear into the opposing team and that's going to modify how they play us, and that's definitely a huge benefit for us. Thoughts?
Unless TH has developed a case of Dwayne Bowe 'eye sight', I'ld say put him back there again after determining what caused his fumbleitis in the first place. Some returners have a depth perception problem. Other have difficulty gauging the wind. Fearful of impending contact? Hope not. Whateve is causing his problem, it needs to be resolved sooner than later. No team can afford to field a liability --- 12 against 10 is not a fair fight in football. :geaux:
I don't know what game you guys were watching, but there is absolutely no way you put Trindon back there anymore. It's one thing for the ball to slip through your grasps because you have the yips but it's clearly another when you are positioned 3 yards off from where the ball is landing and are forced to make a dramatic adjustment at the last second (which makes it impossible to field the ball). He doesn't appear to be cut out to handle punts. He just can't judge the ball's flight very well.
I agree and this is not the 1st we have seen it during a game and I have heard it has been a problem over the years at practice with TH. I would use him at PR when we are in desperate need for a big play but not a every punt return man.
Miles is saying that he didn't lose his job for sure. Heh, I love how he puts this: http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/lsu/29234604.html?index=27&c=y
No way he gets taken out...but do think he will have a lot of practice this week and he needs to follow some team rules as well. I am sure he has seen his mistakes and hopefully now he understands what he has to do.
They'll try him against Miss State and see how he does. If he doesn't show improvement, he won't see the field for Florida. It's a shame, really. He's physically gifted to be a return man, but can't seem to handle the catch. Even Kenny Chesney can field a punt! :hihi:
On Billy Cannon's famous Holloween punt return vs. Ole Miss, there was a team rule not to field punts inside of the 20. Cannon did and the rest is history: http://video.search.yahoo.com/video...ei=UTF-8&fr=yfp-t-501&tnr=21&vid=000147866781
There had to be a reason he wasn't returing punts last year, and I think we saw it this weekend. He just doesn't look like a reliable fielder. Maybe you put him back there in certain situations (not sure what those would be), but I wouldn't be comfortable giving him regular duty. Put one of the outfielders back there.
