For sure what we know as modern Black nationalism came out of this period but IIRC, it also came out of the clergy in primarily black communities. Nation is Islam came from that era and while it isn't really growing in numbers or popularity, it remains a confusing element for white folks.

Adding to the confusion is the early term "mozlem" to what has become Muslim and whether or not any of the current Black nationalist groups who adhere to muslim tenets are accepted by mainstream muslims from the middle east.

See, and I never realized this. I just know about mid way through my military career thete seemed to be a big influx of blacks converting to Islam and an even larger number joining the masons. To the point where I thought you had to be black to even join. Most of them were angry to the point where you could feel it coming off of them.

Idk if this has died down or not because I haven't kept up with it, just didn't seem like in the 2000's it wasn't tied to the civil war but depending on who they were listening to it very well could have.

It always seemed like a civil-rights era thing to me. The only black muslims I see much anymore are the bow-tie suited disciples of Farrakhan. And there are quite a few foreign muslims from Africa studying on campus.

    False,
The Nation of Islam consider Wallace D. Fard Muhammad and Elijah Mohammed as close to being Prophets, both from Detroit and Chicago. The religion of Islam, considers this as blasphemy. They partially accepted the nation when Malcolm X left the nation to become a Sunni Muslim.

Well honestly, the nation of Islam does have some good tenets that they believe in and that is self reliance among black people. Other than that, its 10lbs of shit and a 9lb bag.

It isn't false....it's part of the issue that adds to the confusion for white folks. We basically said the same thing.....the lines are blurred on all fronts and other people find it confusing.
