I've actually gained about 5 pounds but my composition has gone from slim to at least a little muscular. Before I was 162. Now I'm about 168 but more muscular. It wasn't to lose weight but just to help with overall fitness. My strength is up tremendously. Truthfully, I could drink 10 a day and probably never gain a pound.
I'm just about completely done with soft drinks as well. All that carbonation was starting to bother my heart. I drink 2 a week at the most now, and always from a fountain; it doesn't seem to bother me that way as much as with a bottle or can.
I quit my fountain soda habit about 6 months ago. I don't miss it. I also went cold turkey with the morning coffee and switched to occasional caffeine-free tea. My diastolic has dropped over 10 points.
That was the bonus for me. My doc and I had been trying for a while to get those last 10 points. By getting off of the caffeine, success! He was quite surprised.
Can't seem to kick it. I'm good for at least one 32 oz DP from the fountain once a day. I'm sure that is way more sugar and whatever the hell else is in there and I need to cut it out. Just taste so damn good.
I cut out coffee with an assist from starbucks. The last two times I had a cup of coffee from there, it made me sick the rest of the day. Now I have no desire to drink coffee. None. Hopefully that will last a while. I'm totally off the caffeine too although my blood pressure has always been solid and I really never drank much anyway.
