"Need" an excuse? Not in the strictest sense of the word, no. But imagine the fan fallout if he had handed JJ the job on a silver platter, after the way Lee opened the season. Heck, JJ got booe'd in TS a couple of times coming off the bench. Nope, he needed a poor performance from Lee before making the move, and if that poor performance never came, well great. We win it all, and everyone's happy. Put it to you this way.....if Lee starts vs Ole Miss, remind me of this post. I'll gladly come in and eat my words, because I really don't care who's playing QB, all I really care about is winning.
I think JJ will start the rest of the season. I think we are just starting to see his capabilities as a QB this year. He, by many accounts, made great improvements in the passing game this off-season (Manning passing academy). He hasnt thrown much this season, until yesterday. And most of his throws were accurately placed, with good velocity. The play that led to a safety - he had one receiver that was double covered and no where to run when the pocket started collapsing - I think it was a bad play call. Also, he looks comfortable to me. JL does not, although I was very happy when he drove the team for a touchdown. Seemed like the team was rallying around him as well. I think JJ will be the starting QB going forward. Hope he gets alot more reps with Ole Miss, before the razorbacks come to town.
When they showed the wide angle replay, I told the people I was watching the game with that it was one of the worst play calls I'd ever seen. Still think that. Third and long, you've got to pass from your own end zone, so you send out just one receiver, and send him 20 yards downfield? How does that not have safety written all over it?
Well said. That play call was meant to be broken and it ain't all JJ's fault. Stupid end zone call with only one receiver to connect.
He didn't think. Talking about LSU football including griping and splitting hairs is what we do here. Les has managed for 5 weeks not to have a quarterback controversy, but now he has one and fans are going to talk about it.
For the life of me, I can't figure why not. If I remember correctly, he was probably going to start in front of Aaron Murray before being tossed from Georgia. That says alot.
No .. I don't think it has anything to do with skin color. I didn't say racists. Bigot may even be a bit of strong word for it ... but in general ... his favoritism of JJ over Lee, and the difference in how the two are treated, is at the very least "unfair". But then, unfair doesn't really imbody the dispicable nature of favoritism, when one considers that it robs one of opportunity, and provides for the favored one. I quit football in highschool because of this crap. My mind is too rooted in fairness and objectivity to put up with the political B.S. that is rampant in sports. People can put it however they'd like .. but such behavior is likened unto bigotry. Just because it is existing on an individual level as opposed to on a "group" level, makes it no less dispicable. So .. I guess I'll modify my statement a tad ..... If Lee was indeed benched because of academics .. so be it. If Lee was benched because of the two interceptions, I'd say such a reason is very consistent with the nature of bigotry, though not true bigotry as defined. Like I've said .. JJ didn't burn the world up. JJ didn't win the Bama Game for us. I don't remember him scoring any TDs. I don't remembe him throwing any TDs. In fact, he diddn't perform much better than Lee. .. he just played longer. But .. HEY .. if CLM wants to play to his prejudice, that is his choice. If it ends up costing us the SEC West, the SEC CG, the NCG .. so be it. I'm like everyone else .. I'm ready for these two subpar, fueding QBs to get the heck out of here. Moreso, I'm ready for the perception that our QB is subpar to get the heck out of here. I don't necessarily think Lee or JJ are terrible QBs, but they will never break the perception of them that they are terrible. And since we can't get behind our QBs like other fans, unless they are playing at the top of their game at all times, then ... we'll all just have to look forward to next year. Mett hasn't played a bit, but he is a QB God in the minds of most. So .. even if his numbers suck next year .. at least no one will be able to blame it on his talent. IMO, we won't win out if JJ takes the overwhelming majority of snaps like he did last night. Hope I'm wrong, but I haven't been the last two years. LSU will not shut Arky's Offense down, they will score points. LSU won't shut down Okie State, maybe not even GA. I see the same thing happening as last year with JJ .. our defense holds high scoring opponents to 1/2 of what they normally would score, but our offense can't produce enough to pull off the win. To inconsisent. Thus, a lot of close losses. ... and if it is because CLM just "likes" JJ more, and bases his decisions on it, then we deserve to lose.
Talking about it and preparing the noose are 2 different things. Why must you read into this? Miles knows his team and he knows how to handle his QBs. You are trying to dredge up controversy where none exists. I still say if JJ were white there would be no bitching.
