The pussified everyone gets a trophy crowd will lower the bar as low as it needs to be to ensure everyone gets over it. Next year if LSU finishes 6th in the west it will be ok too and an excuse will be created. It's the new craze sweeping the nation, no need for anyone to excel, we'll just lower the standard for everyone.

Hey they won it a couple times, even went to 2 Nattys and won one of those. Don't forget it. That spurt is enough to carry us for at least another decade of faking it

That philosophy is in no way new for Les fans or the country in general.

Why is it that recognizing the fact that many of our problems have to deal with Bama automatically invalidates anything that follows from it? This ESPN-led argument is retarded.

For the amount of money this coaching staff is paid, LSU is (or damn well should be) in the business of competing for championships as the top priority. Last I checked, Alabama is in our division. That means that every year we must beat this team to compete for championships. And that has not happened once in the last 4 seasons. That is directly, and centrally, relevant to the question of whether Les should continue to be the HC.

And to the OP's point, it's not so much a lack of fundamentals (although that is prominently on display), it's an overall lack of discipline, intensity, and focus. The former follows directly from the latter. And this isn't something that started overnight, either.

well said. and i tend to think the opposite. the lack of fundamentals kills any drive once we are a few snaps in. when you're lost on the field on defense, intensity doesnt matter how hard you run past the play. same with receivers and qbs. no development means no learning which leads to no interest.

Lack of fundamentals causes stupid penalties too. Seriously. Receivers lining up in the backfield when they shouldn't, false starts, delay of games, illegal formation, all of that shit should be completely avoidable. Holding, can't really get mad at someone for holding, it happens on every play, in fact holding is fucking legal. Every play offensive linemen grab fistfuls of jersey and it's never called. Unless LSU does it of course. But anyway, when you don't even do the easy stuff right, the hard stuff ain't gonna happen.

LSU just isn't mean, they aren't nasty, they aren't hungry. They are weak, and they aren't prepared in big games ever, sometimes they get some breaks, some times a few guys individual effort wins the games for them, but there is no killer instincts, and as said, lack of fundamentals.

They play like they want to be like Mike, a fat lazy cat who won't even show up for the games.
