I mean there are lots of issues and they've been rehashed 1000x since early november. But an obvious problem notwithstanding the offense is how fundamentally bad we are everywhere. I mean, we've never been a well-oiled machine where we did everything textbook. And I suppose you dont notice a team great fundamentally unless they are white/service schools or a wnba team because theres nothing else to discuss about them. Yet now the fundamentals are terrible from tackling to basic coverage to pass blocking, coverage on special teams and not lastly, quarterback. Really just everywhere. No real strength anymore. Things are so bad yet we have no one leading to regroup and refocus when shit goes wrong. And as a result, we are regressing as we get deep in the schedule now. I know everything goes back to the HC and I know this is going to turn into piling on Miles again but is this related to the assistants just as much. Did we have better teachers prior. Or does it just come from the top dog, running a less disciplined, less focused ship. and the teams reflect him? I think this is the real reason we sorta suck, relatively speaking. I just dont know how we got here. How are we bad at everything. and are we too far gone to fix this with the current staff.
Glad to see you post that. I felt like I was missing something. Just seems like we can't routinely get it done on offense, and it is so tiring seeing teams get 5+ and then convert 3d down with a flats pass. Yessir, that is lack of fundamentals. Unfortunately, as we have seen, even a superstar cant overcome the breadth of the problems. Still love our unis, though! Geaux, Tigers!
I'd like to pile on exhibit 1: Miles. Im afraid he's not (and wonder if he ever was) running a tight ship and is already a made man w/o fire left in the belly. His hires have mostly not been good. I don't expect another NC run.
This is one of the reasons I never liked Miles. I guess he thinks with all the talent he recruits, there's no need to focus on the fundamentals. Further proof Miles is a complete dipshit of a coach.
I think goes further than that. We have a President who is eyeballing a cabinet post with the next President and who is more concerned about perception of himself rather than what brings in the money. We have an athletic director with no stroke, who didn't have the foresight to get approval first before he started down the path to change. A coach who is so set in his ways that he would destroy what could have been a dynasty, all because he thinks he is some offensive guru, that figures all he has to do is run the ball every game and try to stop me, but in reality he is a dude that surrounds himself with friends that are a bunch of yes men.
