    Here is the real scary thought and the bigger issue with the arrests of Mathieu, Jefferson, Hatcher & Bryant. Yes all four of those LSU players are "former players" but they are only less than a year removed from the program so at this point the bigger questions should be;

    Are there other players that are currently involved with the football program that are involved in drugs?

    Is this an isolated issue, or was last years suspension of Mathieu, Ware & Simon just the tip of the iceberg?

    Hopefully the arrests of the 4 former players "Mathieu, Jefferson, Hatcher & Bryant" is an isolated issue but the facts are all 4 of those players were well thought of and friends with a lot of the current team players, I hope there is not a birds of a feather flock together with any current team players.

    Drug use in college and college athletics.....is not uncommon at LSU, or any other college. Unfortunate, but true.

    Valid points. I'd like to think that CLM has this under control to the extent that he can.

    In my mind, the bigger question is, and what most national sports people will be wondering, is there a "drug ring" on the LSU football team? Four, not one or two, were arrested for not just smoking, but "intent to distribute". Say what you want about this charge, that it is bogus, the amount wasn't that impressive (I really have no idea, I have never bought any, or even made a joint myself), the police are dirtbags, etc, etc, etc. But, what HAS happened is that 4 former players, only 1 year removed from the program, are charged w/these offenses and it will raise all of the questions Dudebro (funny name) raises and whether it is reflective of a bigger problem on LSU football team. And, we are only 10 months removed from that goose egg we laid in the BCSNCG. Was that somehow related? This is what most will be wondering. I wouldn't be surprised if investigations follow. Certainly, LSU should begin a non-coach lead investigation and make sure that this is isolated.

    I think a clarification is in order in that only one person (Bryant) was charged with intent to distribute. The others were charged with simple possession. A total of 18 grams of weed was discovered, which hardly indicates any kind of major distribution ring. T-Bob Hebert has also made comments publicly that doesn't seem to paint a picture of widespread use by the team. In any event. it's a sad deal for all involved, but I would caution everybody not to jump to what could eventually be erroneous conclusions.

    Only one person was charged with intent to distribute, not all four. The others got possession charges. 18 grams is nothing, considering that 32-33 grams equates to one ounce. An ounce on the street can go for around $100, give or take, depending how good the pot is. Looks like that big bust was small time. Punk ass pigs.

    The scales and individual bags is what netted Bryant the distribution charge. If it was a larger amount, something like a pound, then I could see that there would be a story, but these guys are very small time. Like I said, 18 grams ain't shit, no matter how many bags you split it into.

    Jefferson, he's a fucking idiot, and he should know better, given his recent history with the law. If these guys were true "friends", they wouldn't have put someone in that position, knowing full and well HIS history and him trying to get better in life, and get back on the football field. On the flip side of that coin, he should've known better than to let that shit in his apartment. Should've done the best he could to keep his nose clean. No matter how good of friends he is with certain guys, Mathieu needs to figure out what he wants out of life, and distance himself from the negative things. He's an adult now, it's time to start acting like one.

    Just read that the cops found a bag of weed in Mathieu's dresser, according to the affidavit. He won't be able to get that charge dropped.

    Always sad to see a guy with so much talent and potential throw it all away.

    Sorry, I didn't really read the whole story, but what made police not only go into Mathieu's house, but do a thorough-enough search to find a stash in his dresser? They must've had a warrant, which means something must've been going on for the cops to not only seek out a warrant, but get one AND know where to look to find the weed.

    What I read is that there was a strong smell of pot coming from the house when they went to the door. I'm no criminal expert but I believe that gives them all the license they need to do a search of the property without a warrant. If dude answers the door with a big smile, red eyes, wreaking of skunk while munching a bag of Nutter Butters and asking if you put extra pepperoni on the pie ...

    O.K., but why were the police at the door in the first place?
