Harris doesn't have the "Quick Information Processing Skills" that great QB's need and must have. They either have it or they don't. Can't really teach it.

Hey wait a minute. The great Dameyune Craig was working with him in the Spring and was supposed to make a big difference over night. (WR's too)

    Hasn't happened yet.

Auburn sure didn't try very hard to keep him on the staff and he's an AU Alum. Their WR's and QB's did nothing while he was there.

Would've preferred if Miles had gone out and hired a great technical WR coach that actually played the position in college and the NFL. We didn't need another "Great Recruiter" that can't coach up his position.

These young kids as some want to call them , have had have been playing football on teams since they were 9. I would say they have 8 or 9 yrs under their belts before they enter college . So some of us will say it is a the gift we have , and that line of thought leads me to this . We all have a different level of the gift. What I know most about is a six string guitar . I have talent , I have a little I have been playing since I was 13. But every once in a while I walk in on the gifted pickers here in Nashville (session pickers ) they are special . A couple months ago I walked in a guitar shop in south Nashville thought for a second I had made a mistake and walked into a church. Guys, some were kneeling , some were standing , and few sitting on guitar amps in front of this picker ,. I thought to myself " Wow he is smoother than Tennessee whiskey " . When he stopped pickin someone reached from behind him took his guitar off his lap carried it to the guitar case , laid the guitar down then wiped the guitar down for him..
As he stood up the guys were asking him questions , and he looked at me , I motioned for him to come to me because I am 70, he came over .I asked him if I could borrow his fingers for a few minutes he pointed to his guitar , the man brought him his guitar and we sat down . I told him I have been searching for a sound for months , he told me to play it , I did . Then he played it got close , I thought I had a hard little dillie to pick , so I played it again got to the place I wanted the special sound , he picked it and said "I think I have it but you play it one more time ." So I did . He picked it the 2nd time and I said "Son, you got it " He said it is simple , I said I understand what you did , but I cannot make that . I held up my hand he put his thumb on mine his little finger on mine . His fingers were 11/2 to 2 inches longer than mine . He said "Oh , I see " then he showed me a simple way of making the sound that I was looking for . I think BH has given us all he has , This is my way of thanking him for being my quarterback I think we will have a great year , and I do believe we are going to have a surprise for our ex coach

I tried guitar for years, until it dawned on my my fingers were too short. There is a fine line between doing it, and doing something to the max. It is not always effort.

Now, if any of you yahoos were watching the Panthers game Thursday night you might have heard the commentary about the Denver QB. They stated over and over and over, that the first thing that Elway and the Broncos look at is PROCESSING SPEED. They kept saying it over and over. Processing speed are the "long fingers" ( in great reference above) to playing QB.

Lots of athletes out there but why most don't play QB (only 1 in 22), and fewer still play it well. And even fewer play it real well.

Nothing is going to change the requirement for processing speed, and I doubt it can be taught and probably only improved upon incrementally.

Mett was a momentary bright spot for us, but he can't hold a job in the NFL. Shows how far away we are, and have been, and probably will be from the QB that we need.

I don't agree at all that Mett "fits" what Miles wants in a QB. If that were true Miles could have found another QB like Mett in all of his years here. In fact the closest QB to Mett, JLee, got totally screwed over by Miles. Miles wants a running QB, period. That's all he plays.

The only reason Mett got a fair shake is because of how much attrition we had at the QB position due to how terrible Miles was at developing them. He literally had no choice.

It's no shock with a pocket passer we put up some of our best offensive numbers ever under Miles yet Miles is unwilling and unable to recruit and develop pocket passers.

That may be true about Mett, but just the thought that an LSU qb, under CLM, could spend even a day in the pros is somewhat otherworldly! I wanted to also say that that should be celebrated, but I can't go that far. We are flat out piss poor where qb development is concerned. As the stats over the years not only indicate, they prove out, we have been at the bottom of the barrel in the passing game, year-in, year-out. Division II schools have been far better than we have been. Makes me F'ing sick.

So true, almost all of the greats have abnormally long fingers.

Les miles doesn't want to develop his quarterbacks into anything. Just hand the goddamn ball off and don't turn it over. Thems the marching orders.
