Tiger fired 75. Finally Phil shows up (leading -5) and Tiger is no where to be seen. The TV ratings guys hate themselves.
It wouldn't surprise me, but in order to do it, he better leave his driver in his locker in the clubhouse. His driving accuracy stats for todays round had him T122 in the field. That and he only hit half the greens in regulation. I suspect he's spent the afternoon on the range practicing. I've been watching the 17th hole on PGATour off & on all day. Sergio just hit one in the water :thumb: and I heard 'em say his was the 43rd ball in the water.
Yea. Bad day. But his first round is often bad. It's the final two rounds where you have to watch out for him.
He lipped out for making par from the drop area. No way Tiger gets back in contention unless everyone else falls. The new drainage they have there is amazing. It looks like it hasn't rained in forever and it rained all day yesterday. The pressure at 17 is unbelievable. It is one of the easiest holes you will ever play without the distractions. Don't these guys pay thousands of dollars for sports psychologists. Those new Oak trees on 18 make that hole damn near impossible, as well.
Don't rule him out quite yet. He will have an afternoon tee time tomorrow and I haven't seen the weather forecast, but it if blows tomorrow like it did today, getting back to E would get him back in the hunt. Hell, who knows, he could shoot 63 tomorrow and be leading.
