I dont think there is an exception but it is a judgment call. I suppose incidental helmet to helmet would not be a penalty but purposely leading with your helmet would be. I'll have to watch it again but when it happened I went "whew, we got lucky there". It may have been exactly what MM said though and the RB lowered his head and met Chad's helmet which in that case shouldnt be a penalty.

Probably more of a judgement call because of the fact that the defensive player has the right to drop his shoulder and helmet when the offensive player does first.
    Just my guess.

The TD was total BS but Im not one to blame refs on a loss. Fact is UF was a better team than LSU. LSU could have stopped the drive before it got that far but there was a lot of missed tackles on that drive. Also offensively LSU couldnt sustain a drive to save their lives. JJ was very off all night. The OL was null and void. Miles and Crowton were taking naps. I think the dropped Toliver pass on third down on the opening drive was HUGE. LSU might have driven for a score which would have really given momentum. There will generally be a few bad calls each way. Overall the team, players and coaches have far more weight on the outcome of a game than a bad call or two. Im not saying anyone is blaming the refs but IMO its a sorry excuse when people do blame a call for a loss.

Yeah, just like the Florida receiver after nearly pulling CW down. Bad calls are part of the game but they become amplified in such a close game.

The no call isn't bothering me. We didn't play well enough to win when we had the ball. If we had lost 13-10 it would eat at me, but when we can't sustain any semblance of a drive one no-call isn't going to bother me.

162 yards of TO bothered me a hell of a lot more than the no call.

I'm with you 100% MM. The thing I noticed when I saw the first replay and I get more pissed every time I watch it is this. When the ref comes into the picture, he's watching the ball in flight! Refs are not supposed to watch the game, they're supposed to watch the players for rules violations.

I'm not saying this won/lost the game, but it was total BS. Also, ESPN practically handed UGA a win over us because of the celebration BS penalty, and they have shown this uncalled PI. But I guess because it's FU and Tebow they just shrugged and laughed it off.

Get a new QB, and you'll see him. JJ isn't the answer.

Bad calls are part of the game--just like bad weather and injuries. Everybody gets them, it all evens out in the long run, and teams just have to deal with it.
