I understand that everyone, including myself, was really shocked, saddened, p-o'd beyond belief and just generally crapped out after the game ended last Saturday, but I hope - now that the FACTS are better known - that we remember that it's unwise to act on emotion and go off half-cocked and call for the execution of a man before looking at all sides of the incident.

CLM, without doubt, acted in a censurable manner on Saturday. He has accepted responsibility for HIS mistakes and those of his staff. Among other things, in his presser today, he said, "Certainly I mismanaged the back end of the Ole Miss game. It’s my responsibility. I’m the head coach. I know I’m taking criticism."

"I let the clock get away from me. It’s my fault. It’s my mistake."

I told my team Saturday as we came in from Mississippi, and we went into the team room, and I told them again this morning that if there is accountability in this room, in this team room, I hold them accountable, and I’m accountable to them. I spoke to them very honestly about my mistake."

On if the players are taught to take ownership in situations with the clock running down to take a timeout...
“The want to have had the players on the field make the timeout call in that spot certainly is a great call. That’s what should happen, but in the same vein, that’s my responsibility. I have done that every game that I’ve ever been alive as a head coach, and I can’t imagine that I made the mistake I did. It was my mistake.”

"I have a responsibility to represent a great school, great state and a great team. I understand the mistake that this head coach has made, and it will not be repeated.”

I'm still GREATLY disappointed in CLM's inaction and seeming inability to manage that game - but I think his statements today show that he knows he messed up and he's doing the right things now to correct the problems. I think we'll see game management improvements immediately.

I'm sure glad we didn't "get a rope" and stretch him Saturday night.

And if you haven't seen "The Oxbow Incident", it's well worth seeing.

I've never seen or heard of "The Oxbow Incident"--but I don't need to see it to understand your thread/post.

    Great thread and great post.

If we were all lynched everytime we made a big mistake, there wouldn't be many of us left.

Whenever you make a huge mistake (we all have)...you admit it, you learn from it and you move on.

    Good post.:crystal::miles:

I think CLM prolly feels worse about saturday night than anyone else concerned. His statements read like genuine sorrow and remorse, and i'm sure he's making the adjustments needed to correct these problems... i just hope he doesn't get into a position where he's so worried about clock management and whatnot that he overlooks something else. i dont think miles is the guy we need to be worrying about anyway.

Someone needs to leave the TF'ers that went apeshiit on Miles an "out"--a free pass if you will.

For the posters whose knee-jerk reaction was to hang Miles out to dry, as the facts come out and as CLM admits his faults, we need to let fellow TF'ers who wish to go back on some of the things that they said and posted do so without giving them a tough time about it.

I understand that not all of them will want to, but you would be suprised how many will.

My thought is that alot of TF'ers don't want to look stupid and will keep their foot on the throat of CLM even as the dust settles, the facts come out, as Miles admits his mistakes and as time elapses even though they don't feel that way anymore.

I understand the anger and frustration with him. I understand that you may feel differently now than you did Saturday night or yesterday. I feel much better about it now than I did then......and if we beat Arky I'll feel even better than I do now.

Don't be afraid to change your stance on CLM, LSU fans--it's ok.:thumb:

There are plenty of good, reasoned opinions here. I've learned alot of the years. Stick around and you will figure out what to read and what to pass on. :thumb:

The clock management fiasco should not have happened. The game was lost when they decided to pass after the 1st down at the 32. The mea culpas should be about that decision. I was angry and vented quite vociferously at the time. It still sticks in my craw but what can I do? I agree with the thoughts posted in this thread but too much is being made of the last 19 seconds. I hope lessons were learned and I'm not going to dwell on it. I hope they make Arky pay for these sins.

Finally someone is focused on the real reason why we lost.

Why are people made about the last 40 seconds, they should be mad about the other 59:20. That was the part that was offensive. LSU had no reason even being in the game. The last 40 seconds or so was just the curtain call.

I would do you one even better. We probably aren't even in the on sides kick situation if are star receiver doesn't drop 4 passes, all probably for first downs and 1 may have been a TD. I think all 4 possessions turned into punts.

But even still we had the opportunity on the 32 and decided to pass which is just as bad of a coaching mistake as the players lack of execution in the game itself.
