The Open returns to Bethpage Black this year. Back in '02 Tiger won and was the only one in red numbers (under par).

Tiger, as usual, is the favorite. Two weeks ago when he won the memorial, Tiger led the field in fairways hit. If Tiger does that this week, it's over. When he's hitting fairways, he's tough to beat.

Will this be the time that we get a Tiger/Phil Sunday showdown in a major? I hope so. With this probably being Lefty's last tournament until his wife's treatment is over, I think Phil want's to win this week like never before.

But if not Tiger or Phil, who else has a chance this week. Furyk? Sergio? Toms? Stricker? Obviously I would like to see Toms win, being an LSU alum. He leads the PGA in fairways hit for the season, so that definitely gives him a chance.

I think this year's Open will be very exciting!

Lefty's concentration is shot at the moment, understandable. I don't see him contending.

Lefty misses the cut; ala when Tiger missed the cut after his dad died.

You just can't be halfway into it mentally and compete at one of these.

If Tiger hits the fairways, he wins big.

If he plays B- golf, he wins small.

If he stinks up the place, I got Ernie Els.

As mentioned, if Tiger keeps it in the fairway he wins. I would love to see Toms win but with all the rain that course is gonna play really, really long and that will hurt his chances.

I hate to say it but... keep an eye on Angel Cabrera. He always seems to find himself in the hunt at the majors.

    Easy's won here 2 times, man. :)

Don't sleep on Paddy Harrington, obviously. He's the quietest really good player in golf.

EDIT: By "here", I mean the US Open, not Bethpage Black

okay, I made two bets on the us open with some friends who were all over lefty's jock. I laid them even money that he would not finish in the top 5 ($25 a piece for a total of $50) and laid one of them 4 to one against lefty winning (my $100 to his $25). I think it will be easy money. He surely won't win and even if he does, the worst payout i can find is 8 to 1 so i made a good bet. I can't find any odds to back up the top five even money bet but i gotta think that's a good bet too. Thoughts?
