hopefully timlin can work the 7th. maybe pitching gagne in the 6th makes more sense now. cap should understand by now that the days of the 96 mph heat are gone and should rely more on breaking stuff. steve -o phillips had a breakdown the other day saying that gagne threw like 20% more breaking balls in texas.
funny you said that. i was going to mention when i said i think gagne is trying too hard to impress beantown that id bet hes thrown way too many fastballs that barely reach 90mph now btw. obviously a case of trying to do too much. he keeps forgettin hes not on the needle anymore.
In the game a couple nights ago when he ran the count to 3-0 on his first batter, he came out with 3 straight fastballs. One hit 96, but the rest stayed right at 90. Then he started throwing chages and curves to get out of the inning. The only hit he gave up was on a fastball (91-ish) with NO movement.
wily mo sent to the nats for plyr2bnamedl8r. jacoby ellsbury is liking this news. id like to see brandon moss get a chance. super athlete as is jacoby. buchholz is now 1-0 to bring back down to triple-a. interestingly, the tigers let craig monroe clear waivers. maybe they go that direction.
Jacoby is going to be a really good player in the bigs. When he got his chance earlier this year, he made a pretty good arguement to stay up. Moss looked a little nervous and jittery when he got to play. But then again so did Melky Cabrerra when he 1st came up with the yanks.
moss certainly not the prospect jacoby is after destroying pac10 pitching for a few years. but i think he left the year before OSU won their 2 titles b2b. moss batted .290/.369/.473 at Pawtucket --35 doubles, two triples, 13 homers in 427 at-bats. he may end up the 4th outfielder next year with jacoby being the starter. id like to evaluate the disAstros farm but they have none so im stuck looking at the rays, dbacks, sox and mets.
Yeah well. Splitting a double header with Anaheim ain't too bad. Of course if I were a betting man, I would have put my money on the Sox to win the game Beckett started.
Wily Mo absolutely torched one today for the Nats. I'm anxious to see what this guy can do as an everyday player.
Well, it's official now. The Sox get Chris Carter from the Nats (via the D-Backs) to complete the Wily Mo trade. Carter is a 1st baseman, which leads me to believe either they plan to move him, or Lowell won't be around much longer if at all after this year. Youk came up as a 3rd baseman, and will likely be moved back to that corner. Don't know much about Carter, but I like what I've read about him so far
