Here is one stat category that has to give: LSU offense ranked 3rd in the nation in 3rd down conversions at 58.3 % Florida defense is ranked 2nd in the nation at an astonishing 23 % Funny thing is LSU is 44th in the nation on defense in this category (36.6 %), which tells you teams are not even getting to 3rd down as often as we need them to in order to be successful. 1st and 2nd downs are killing us. Florida's offense is 22nd in the nation in 3rd down conversions, at 49.3 %.
They are a tiny school. They damn sure had winning seasons in basketball. They were famous in the early 70's for fielding teams of 5-foot-7 white midgets that could dribble and shoot the lights out. They played smart passing, hustling basketball. Rick Huckaby was coach then, he later went to the final four as an LSU assistant and 4 conference titles and three NCAA tournament appearances as head coach at Marshall.
Your not talking about Rapides high school in Rapides parish are you? They do not have a football program.
We will all have a better idea of what the offense is capable of this weekend after facing one of the best defenses in the country. Once the Tiger's get passed Florida's defense, and prove to be able to contain an athletic QB, it will give the fans a better idea of where the Tigers may be, come the end of the season.
