I figured I would pre-empt good ole istsls, and get this thread going. Clearly Payton should be fired after this wretched effort. Completely outcoached, outplayed, and outclassed. Brees was crucial in losing this game, and choked on the biggest stage.

Feel free to join me in beating istslsl to the punch. :hihi:

I should also include more substantive things like:

1 -- Why so little Deuce in the first three quarters?

2 -- Why no safety help for hapless Fred Thomas?

3 -- Why the lack of focus on ball control?

No need to do either just cut Fred Thomas in the locker room and make him drive home and PRACTICE OUTDOORS WHEN PLAYING IN CHICAGO IN JANUARY!!!!!!!

Fred Thomas should be released tomorrow, just to make a point.

I'm not fan of 'Burnt Toast' Thomas, but he didn't turn the ball over. 1 TD is Thomas's fault the other 32 points you can't blame on him

Terry Bradshaw said it real well in pregame:

The key matchup is Fred Thomas vs. whoever the bears line him up with...

Let's face it. For some reason the Saints were just not ready to play. They were flat. Too many mistakes. Way too many turnovers and penalties. In addition, the OL did not protect Brees.

There were several big pass plays that Thomas was directly responsible for, other than the TD. I agree that turnovers killed us, but he's a big reason the Bears were able to move the ball.

I can give you the reason they lost... after 3 quarters.. 37 passes, 11 rushes... with two of the best runningbacks in the league.. even after being down 16-0, they should have been running the ball, letting the defense rest. When they did run the ball they moved down the field.. then they would start passing again and stall... bad playcalling was the reason they lost... I have always thought payton was overrated.. Brees is the reason for the teams success.
