As the OP said, if the emotion wasn't vented, if it wasn't there .... it would be a bigger issue. They vent, because they care. Come next Saturday, however, they will be in front of the TV or at the Stadium dressed in their purple and gold, pulling for the Tigers to win. .... as they do every game.
You have to game plan for kenny hill, when you play aTM you have to play alot of tight man coverage, bump recievers off the line, aTM throws alot of short routs and slants that's 90% of their passing game so you have to be willing to challenge and press the recievers and have the athletes to cover in space, I think we do we just cant play soft coverages against aTM.
Have to use or lose leave, so I'm coming back home this weekend. May be an opportunity to put names with faces at the game Saturday. Any takers?
Damnit JT, how long will you be home for? I'm coming in as well but won't be there until about the 7th
I agree that is a little disappointing that we tried to run directly at the strength of the MSU defense. They crowded the box and we still ran right at 'em. Running from the spread and presenting the threat of an aerial attack would have softened the middle. Unfortunately we are caught in situation where our passing threat is still under development. Think about the impact to an offense when just a star QB is lost. Now consider that we lost all of our top performers from last year (Mettenberger, Hill, Landry and Beckham). We have some quality players here but none of them are ready to replace all of that production in just a few games. It takes time for that to develop. You also need to consider that Miles is a coach who does a pretty good job of learning from mistakes and works hard not to repeat them. So it's no surprise to me that he is bringing Harris (the QB of the future for LSU) along carefully. No one wants to see another season where a young QB is thrown into the mix too early with the hopes of a team on his shoulders (remember Lee?). It's simply going to take time. Don't forget that these are kids who are 18-20 years young, playing on a huge stage with tremendous expectations and pressure to play (and oh by the way, go to college at the same time). Remember, we want Harris and this team to be successful for a long time to come. It is unrealistic to think this is going to happen in one season. Its a process folks. It is important to understand that concept.
Totally understandable. It's why we are called fans (short for fanatics). It's the passion which makes us great. We just have to be like the players on the field. Get mad for the moment, then let it go and move on to the next play.
By no means am I saying throw Harris to the wolves. I do agree he needs to be brought along, but honestly we can not even compare Harris to Lee when it comes to pure talent and arm strength, it's not even close, but I understand and respect your point. As far as the young talent, LSU is already ranked # 58 in the country as far as passing attack are concerned, and it's only getting better, as a coach you have to play to a teams stregnth, and I see this teams stregnth as their recievers, so use the passing attck to open up the run and I think you would see this offense fly. Just my opinion though. Attack a teams weakness not their stregnths.
DJ Welter......17 tackles.....3 tackles for loss Beckwith.......16 tackles......6 tackles for loss Beckwith also has way more solos than welter. Welter has WAY more time played than beckwith does.
