Not dumping on Josh D, but he's not an LT. He's a liability against a speed rusher off the edge. If he does in fact play LT against AU, which is being reported, we'll need a TE and/or Mr. Copeland to clean up after him. And I think Josh D is a good OL. Just not an LT.
We can't afford another injury to offensive line. Was listening to Randy Rosetta the other day and he said maybe Coach doesn't want to move Collins to a full time left tackle becauase of maybe having to move him again next season when Faulk comes back, then moving Collins back to left tackle again when Faulk leaves. I don't know how much I buy into that, just put the best offensive line out there. I really hope they get this worked out this week.
For whatever reason the OL hasn't been as good as advertised so far this season and that's against a poor level of competition. I don't think it's just one of the OL and may be more of a chemistry thing than it is talent. However the level of competition is about to take a step up and the OL needs to step up with it. Hopefully the starters will develop that chemistry and some of the young talented newcomers will come along quickly. Practice games are just about over, time to start firing on all cylinders.
Best OL out? Faulk? And the only problem with the OL is at his position. The running game is phenomonal, which is a reflection of the OL. We've just gotta figure out a solution to the LT position...but quick.
I'm just going off the rushing numbers, which are very good...and have been the last couple years. You gotta remember...we haven't had much practice actually pass blocking for a couple years, lol.
