So I didn't get to watch the game, but I kept up with it while it happened. Seems like Josh D. was struggling mightily at LT. What's the O-Line gonna look like Vs Auburn? Who's running LT?
Josh D was at left tackle. And he had a challenge or two, but I wouldn't say he struggled mightily. The speed rush gave him a few problems, including one blind side sack.
That spot's gonna be a work in progress. Not sure if they moved Hurst to LT in that game or not, but Collins may have to step up faster than originally thought.
The official story is that he was pulled because of a thigh bruise. Make your own judgement, but a similar injury kept Spencer Ware completely out of the game, so it's plausible. Miles says he'll play this week. Hurst moved to LT when Josh D came out and Vadal Alexander went in at RT.
If it's one spot that could prove problematic, it's the LT position. I fully expect Auburn will line Lemonier up on Josh D's side of the ball on the regular. He usually plays on the left side of the defense. I think he had a few flags in that ULM game...two for sure for encroachments, but seems like he had a roughing the passer called. I wouldn't be surprised to see this dude go for some Nick Fairley style hits on either Mett or our RBs. Still expect a curb-stomping.
If whoever is at LT has problems, we can keep a TE in to move Lemonier further out and help the LT on pass plays.
Josh D., at left tackle gave up two speed rush sacks in succession toward the end of the second quarter. He looked crippled and just stood there. That was the only time I saw the Idaho end try to speed rush against Josh D. and he got a sack both times. After that Josh was yanked and Hurst moved to LT and Alexander moved to RT. The explanation was that Josh D. had a "contusion". The full game replay is on ESPN. The resolution is not all that great but you can see what happened. It happened in the second quarter in the next to last drive by LSU. I think the Hurst, Alexander combo works a lot better.
