Point them to this: http://theadvocate.com/home/3820021-125/lsu-athletics-to-annually-contribute Granted, $7.2M a year for a university that operates on an annual budget that's upwards of $400M isn't a massive amount, but every little bit helps in a state budget crunch.
That makes me want to complain that we're paying way too much for tickets. To cite that as a reason NOT to complain though, is this a rule or, rather, the exception? How many school Athletic Departments do that? Serious question here.
With an arrangement like this? None to my knowledge. Even our own AD contributed only $7M over the last two years to the academic side in comparison. I'm sure there are other programs that kick back some money, but most are not self-sustaining. Wouldn't make sense to launder tax dollars for academics through athletics when they can just get a bigger appropriation outright.
The only money connect I know of between the UofO and the Athletic Dept is,.. the AD pays for all the athletic scholarships, the money is transferred to the admissions office. Do you guys have to make a substantial donation to the AD, like we do, before you're allowed to purchase season tickets?
I don't have season tickets but my sister does. Just for example, she offered me 2 to Ole Miss game with a parking pass. She was going to give them but I can't attend so offered to help her sell. She said they cost her $400.00 a game so she'd prefer giving them to someone in the family or a close friend instead of hassling with trying to sell. Now these are good seats and access to pretty close parking too but still. Go buy 2 tickets for 8 games and shazam.
Pretty sure they taught econ 101 supply vs deman at lsu. Games are sold out. They could raise prices another $10-20 and still be sold out
"They" can get 5 bucks a gallon for gas during a hurricane and people bumper to bumper evacutating too skippy. Comment was sorta tongue in cheek though. Us po people are okay with staying home to watch games.
