for future reference I would suggest that when we play another opponent like Townson, we start and play for at least a quarter the 2nd units both on defense and offense. The other team is inspired to play us but we aren't to play them - at least the 2nd unit would be sparked. It can't be worse than our performance against Towson. And the next time Mettenberger shows up dressed like a clown and hasn't accomplished anything to date as a starter - somebody toss a rotten tomato at him. Dude needs to spend time in the weight room so he isn't taken to the ground like a limp noodle.
Personally, I thought it was a pretty decent post. The clown outfit told me he wasn't taking the game seriously at all.
My hope is that the coming playoffs will at the very least stop this all out assault on small college football. Perhaps 2 big name programs fail to make the final four, due to the undeniable fact they played 4 patsies, that no conference affiliation could overcome. That type of carnage just seems like a great deterrent for what's ailing coaches, courage.
I agree and I'm glad we've at least moved away that SOME. The SEC wrote the book on that stuff. With 6 wins meaning a bowl game, we had 3-4 gimme's off the bat. We (SEC) made a lot of money fore others figured out the formula. We've sent as much as 8 teams to bowls.
I'm with you. I just have never understood diluting the product just to get into another weed eater bowl. I doubt if anyone would really care if everyone got invited to an extra season ending game. Having to play in Gary IN. (shout out to fish) come Dec./Jan. seems like more punishment than reward. Anyway, the SEC is on the short track to 9 conference games, so 14 teams will be saying goodbye to one patsy, soon. The unanimous NO to allowing only conference champions into the 4 team playoff, may mean we all will have to toughen up the schedule to get enough style points to get noticed. I hope so.
