Winston thinks you have watched too many Solyant Green and Matrix movies I think Winston need to watch more than you. He also needs to read Atlas Shruged and 1984.

Great books. Loved Atlas Shrugged but i think The Fountainhead was even better. Good time to read Brave New World again too.

I’ve read both Kiki and others. What I do know is that tyranny can come from both sides. It’s happening now and to borrow a phase from Sir Edward Grey on the eve of WWI “The lights are going out all over Europe and I fear we won’t see them lit in our lifetime “. In this case in the United States and the world.

So I assume you are referring to NAZI Germany and what you mean by both sides is that you believe the NAZI party was right wing. You think Hitler and the Nazi's were right wing?

Well Kiki I gotta say it was. Hitler’s party and rise was backed German industrialists and bankers. His appeal was to nationalism and a promise to revitalize the German economy and rebuild Germany’s place in the world. He didn’t call for take over of business by the state or ending private property. In fact I don’t think he ever did. Finally his primary German opponents before he took power were the communists. That pretty much is the opposite of communism.....a right wing tyranny
Just because the Nazi party had socialist in its name doesn’t mean it was socialist in form or policy.....sort of like democrats aren’t democratic.

Winston just can’t let things be what they are. Always having to compare this to that.

Just a little more comparison between the NAZI party and the DEMOCRATS. Hitler had his Brown Shirts and the DEMOCRATS have their versions too.

    Obama's version of Brown Shirts
We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded, Obama said in July 2, 2008.

Sorry Kiki but I have to work sometimes. However your reply actually supported my point that tyranny can come from both the left and right. Other right wing tyrannies can be found in Franco’s Spain, Peron’s Argentina and developing in Orban’s Hungary.
The source doesn’t matter as much as the result. Intolerance of opposition leads to tyranny. Relying on one person to be the “savior “ leads to dictatorship and tyranny. I see it happening here.....from both sides. Both republicans and democrats want more power concentrated in the presidency. That leads to dictatorship and tyranny.
I saw a poll result yesterday where about a third of democrats and 40% of republicans are in favor of separation into two countries. That’s a sad commentary on the state of public discourse in the country and a warming about the future of our country.
