i'm sure this has been mentioned somewhere but i haven't read every thread. i tried to back JJ over lee last yr. the only thing JJ does over lee (taking their LSU QB history into acct) is that he doesn't score 6 pts for the other team. but i'm done with JJ now. and the reason to put me over the edge is immaturity. if you're going to qb a team then you need to be a leader as well. for me the biggest disappointment in watching JJ isn't the holding the ball, it's not staring down one read, or bad mechanics etc. it's his lack of leadership. i get when you actually put a pass on a guy's hands and he drops it, it's frustrating. but seeing JJ pout and pout after his teammates drop the ball (literally) has me so frustrated. you know just like manning and brees do after their guy drops a ball. they get mad at their receivers. and throw a tantrum on the field. instead of going over to your guys and give them a "well get 'em next time" pep talk, JJ pouts. better than the alloofness of aaron brooks you say who seemed almost apathetic at times? maybe he cares a lot and his emotions get the better of him you say? fine. but with all the things currently working against JJ, wouldn't he want to exude on-field leadership as much as possible? i'm not a coach, i don't know or spend time with JJ,but seeing his reactions sometimes on the field would make me yank him off the field quicker than anything else he does. you know, if i was under the headset.
If the UVW feller had not tripped on his own feet, he would have scored on Jefferson's interception last night. I think you are right.
We can say all we want on this forum, but unless Miles is reading these posts, he doesn't care one iota what we think. He's the Head Coach. Crowton is his OC, and Jefferson is the quarterback. The only person who can change things is Miles. He's going to do what he wants to do. However, there's one thing Miles now has to keep in mind. Rich Rodriguez is having good success at Michigan now. His team is clicking in all facets of the game. U of M will hang onto him. That WAS the one place where Miles could go if things went south at LSU. That's off the table now, apparently. So Miles has to win. If he gets canned, where's he going to go? Who's going to want a coach who can't see the forest for the trees? If Miles can finally see the light, he'll bite the bullet and make the changes necessary. If he continues down this road depending on his (albeit) misguided loyalty towards Crowton and Jefferson, the rest of the football team, which this year has a real chance to be fabulous, will run right into the ground. The Defense and Special teams are the best in years, but after awhile, the futility of Miles's inactions will seep into every part of the team, and LSU will have another disappointing season. :geaux:
Man, can you say, 'Nail on the head'. Exactly my thoughts as I watched JJ frown on the sidelines and shake his head like he's playing so great and just not getting any help. Disgusting display!! Total lack of leadership. I was one saying JJ should get a chance when Jarrett was going through his disastrous season, well, now I believe Jarrett should get his chance again...a really meaningful chance, not one series at the end of the game. Let's see if he has overcome his 'young quarterback' tendencies. JJ has not improved and has, in fact, gone backwards. I have to believe a lot of it is due to his attitude. His body language speaks volumes. By the same token, Jarrett staying at LSU and persevering also speaks volumes. Just my opinion, and yes, I know what it's worth.
All I can say is . . . Tommy Tuberville. Wining coaches will find good jobs. Les averages 10 wins a season and can get himself hired at a BCS school easy. Not for $4 million maybe. He might have to eke out a living for $1.8 million. Friggin' Gerry Dinardo got fired at LSU for a 2-8 season and managed to get hired at Indiana!
I said the same thing last night he had some good throws in the first half, especially that 3rd and 12 pass where he scrambled, stepped up, and found the open receiver, in the 1st quarter that got called back for holding. I am done defending Jefferson. I will continue to support him if he starts (which he will because Miles is stubborn) but I will continue to hope Lee comes in and plays.
