probably meant to say kept us from reaching full potential. and that would be dead-on balls accurate. to quote marisa tomei.
After 4 years JJ is who we thought/knew he was (cue up Dennis Green please), and Miles has stuck with him through lack of production, through off field issues, so it should come to no surprise that he stuck with him last night. JJ wasn't the answer as a freshman, sophomore, junior or senior. Apparently Miles didn't think JL was the answer either. So the situation is for 4 years there has not been an answer at the QB position. Give credit to the team for all they achieved during these years despite not having an answer at QB, no small task in the SEC Western division. Now we can move on and find out what Miles will do with legit QBs. More of the same smash mouth ball control offense? Or will he let his passers get the ball to the thoroughbreds down field and over the middle? Hopefully LSU will play with a complete playbook next year.
I agree completely. But we do not have to forget the absysmal play of the OL, they were a strenght of this team and they have been owned by Bama's front 7.
You mean Bama's front 9 don't you? Bama's game plan was simple, put more on the line of scrimmage than 7 can block. In pee wee league they would have simply thrown it over the top of the defense and scorched them all night. Unfortunately in the more than a month the staff had to formulate a game plan, down field passing was not part of it. Nor was it part of any in game/half time adjustments. That's what happens when you tie yourself to a one dimensional QB.
That was actually working decently with Hilliard. Sadly we didn't try this at all, and instead elected to do Bubble screens and flats all game. Because that worked so well when Crowton was doing it before
Crowton isn't here anymore and yet we're seeing the same plays. I'll let you guess if it ever was Crowtons offense or not. The answer should be evident by now.
that's funny, because i asked myself this question on my way to work......great defense and superior talent on the field hides CLM's Xs and Os flaws. He's an excellent recruiter though.
So did I, I agree with you and LSU Dane BUT I don't know if it is flaws. I think Les Miles problem is that he is stubborn and has too much of the Big Ten style of football in him. You have to open up your offense at some point or change things instead of the same style of play. I am hoping with better QB play next year that our offense will change. I keep scratching my head and asking if some of the awful offense and play calling has been because the QB's have struggled or will it always be this way. I am still trying to figure out if Mett is really better than the 2 starters we had, why wasn't he on the field? IMHO he should have been at some point especially since the offense didn't seem very complicated to run most of the time. Sometimes I think Les Miles stubborn streak gets the best of him and that is the story I've taken from Monday Night.
