We got out coached Out played and it was a complete ass wimping!

We have done it to others and now it has happened to the Tigers- hurts.

I can't explain it but I think Les was a little cocky about the game and Nick out worked Les

    and our staff!

there were no contingency plans. they should have anticipated that bama was going to be ready for JJ, and had JL ready to go, and had their own minds wrapped around the idea of putting JL in. end of 3rd, we are down 15-0, and there was no fire in the coaches or players. we needed a spark. something bama was not prepared for. putting JL in may have not resulted in much, maybe they sack him, or he throws INTs, but at that point in the game, we are losing w/ the opponent out gaining us 6:1 (300 v 50 yds). it could not have been any worse. it was the NC game. no other games left in the season. let it all hang out. definitely, this loss is on CLM and his stubbornness. i would have much preferred losing on a last minute drive by Bama, or us not making a full comeback. something other that our offense just basically not showing up on the biggest stage of the year. extremely disappointing.

    Hubris.

This team thought that they could not lose. It was a half-assed effort all around by coaches and by the players.

But this debacle will go down as a total failure by the head coach and the starting quarterback.

    I agree on all points.

Les was very cocky in the fact that, "Did we really think we would come into the game and option them to death?."

After getting 2 yards a pop on Nov. 5, did we think Saban would not prepare for the option. I also wonder if these option calls are made in the huddle, or at the line by JJ.

I can live with the results, because besides Les, it was Saban's Defense vs. JJ at QB. And thats a mathcup that didn't favor us.

The LSU defense played spectacular. Holding a team to 7 field goals isn't an easy task.
Considering they were on the field for the entire game.

Continuing to play conservative as your offense failed to even get in field goal range, is terrible coaching (what ever is happening on the field, can only happen if the head coach allows it, in terms of play-calling). You press a button on the head set and say, "Kill the option, we need to throw this ball down the field." It's really that simple.

JJ is gone. JL deserved a shot, especially with the horrid performance of JJ. It was obvious that he was far from being ready for this game.

    No worries...
I can smile a huge smile knowing that the JJ vs. JL controversy is dead in the water.

And no matter who line up under center next season (other than Randall), we won't be running the option.

This puzzled me during the 2009 and 2010 season.... How many times does the option have to be horrid, for you to stop calling.
When we ran the option on 3rd and 12, to the short side, I pretty much knew we were in for a brutal night. I was literally wondering if Croton had found his way into the press box.

Throw in the multiple false starts, and the lack of protection on other plays, we wouldn't have beaten Alabama A&M last night.

    Just imagine..
When JJ went into that locker room, he removed that LSU jersey for the last time.
Once again, I can smile brightly, and thank god for that.

Hopefully our coach learned a valuable lesson after last nights game.
I walk this earth everyday believing on Karma above all things.

Miles is a great coach, and I wouldn't replace him for anyone else.

    But the facts are this.

The 4 year mismanagement of his QB situation, blew up in his face, on the biggest stage, on the biggest moment. It couldn't have been any uglier.
I'm not saying that we would have won if JL had entered. But there is no way JL stays in as the starter if he's having the same performance. So, whats fair is fair.
I still hold in my heart that our championship QB was sitting on the sidelines wearing #8.
And regardless of class, when you don't let the best players play, it will always bite you in the but. The problem is, that theory seems to hold true for Miles, at every position but the QB.

And as of today, Zach Mettenberger is our starting QB, and that makes me smile even harder.

Unlike other games that JJ played in this year, the offensive game plan was apparently designed to revolve specifically around him. Thus, if he played poorly, LSU had no chance.

JJ sucks. I can't believe the coaches didn't see that after the Ga game. He didn't make a first down in the whole first half. JJ SUCKS and miles went down with him. Watching JJ play at Destrehan I never understood why Miles even recruited him.

A point that I haven't seen anyone mention yet is, would CLM still be here without the Chief? After sleeping on it, I'm honestly starting to think that the Chief saved Miles job. If we didn't have such an awesome defensive coach we wouldn't have been playin last night. All the talent in the world doesn't make up for good coaching. As was apparent on the offensive side of the ball. Miles has been getting by on the back of Chief's defense. Everything just blew up last night.

Having slept on it, I have decided that I will no longer point a finger at JJ on the loss. JJ is what he is. It's plain to everyone what he can and can't do on the field. Nick Saban went to school on JJ. He had his team prepared for everything JJ does well, and took it all away.

Let's say we at TF.com decide to have a contest where everyone picks someone from the LSU roster and they race to see who is the fastest. If I choose Alex Hurst to race for me, who's fault is it when he loses? His or mine?

The blame for the loss is 100% on the coaching staff, led by Les Miles.

Point taken, but that's what good head coaches do. Recruit great talent, and hire a great staff. The search for a top flight OC hopefully begins today.

    True.
But part of great coaching is hiring the right guys.

The final score and the entire game was ugly.
I don't think it has blown up. I think a valuable lesson was learned by CLM last night.
You are not going to beat Saban by running the option. I may work once or twice. No more, no less.
    Ask Urban Meyer.

This beating should serve us well heading into next season. Both coaches and players.
