People have complained that the "roars" from The Masters haven't been there the last couple years. Well the final round today was as good as it gets. Down 7 strokes to start the day, Tiger and Phil put on a good show. They had more people following their group today rather than the leaders. CBS execs were creaming in their pants today. Too bad Angel Cabrera backed into his second major. Kenny Perry had the tournament won leading by two with two to go. Obviously the pressure got to him as he bogied the final two holes to force a 3-man playoff. Then absolutely choked on second hole of playoff to give the green jacket to Cabrera.
Im surprised we havent had a thread on the masters this year. We usually have one. You are right though. For golf it was about as exciting as it could get. I felt sorry for Perry. He seemed to play the best out of the leaders and his shot at 16 was fantastic. Cabrera seems like a funny character but he had it handed to him. He made some good shots, especially yesterday, so its not like he is undeserving but it was a let down when Perry couldn't finish. Mickelson had history staring him in the face. He just pars 12 and makes the 2 short ones he shoots 63 and wins it at -13. Tiger didnt play to his normal level but they put on a great show. The ratings on this one are probably through the roof.
I don't like Angel Cabrerra and was bummed that he won. But it was a great tournament. I wish someone could have given Perry a map to the green towards the end. I don't know what his deal was.
Why dont you like him? Also, Phil had the best chance of the 2(Tiger) of them and he just shyt the bed on the 16th.
Just to forewarn you, it's a very stupid reason and I know it is. When I play golf, I hate it when people in my group smoke. I'm trying to get some friggin fresh air and between holes all I can smell is an ashtray. Cabrera smokes when he plays. It drives me crazy.
He quit smoking. They even talked about that one day during the telecast. But he was wearing that gum out on Sunday.
Good for him. I didn't hear them talk about it but did notice they didn't show him smoking between holes, although they rarely televise that. Anyway, I was hoping Perry would win. He's not very exciting but to see him pull it off at 48 would be cool. Plus, his daughter's were pretty hot.
After playing marvelously to get himself into contention and then to suddenly and unexplainably blow his shot at a 3rd green jacket on a shot that had no chance is mind blowing. Bones must shoulder some of the blame. I suspect he knew 9 iron wasn't the right club.
