Because most of the college football world doesn't pull in consistent top 10 recruiting classes every year. And while yes I am disappointed in this loss and feel had we made a few different decisions we win this game handedly... read any of my posts I am not on the fire Miles bandwagon. I like Miles here just feel he needs to stay out his own way like others have stated.
I can see the wisdom in the call, but I also see that it was the wrong call. IF .. Alleman would have made the FG .... we'd been up six, kicked off, and Bama would have driven the ball down the field and won the game by 1 point instead of 4. Mett et al., had the Bama D on the ropes. CLM should have gone for the first, which IF made, would have given the tigers 4 more downs to completely decimate the clock, and possibly make 7, which would have sealed the win. There's all kinds of what ifs, though. IF Alleman would have made the first FG, made a FG on the fake, and made the last FG, the win would have been sealed. BUT ... we lost. Our guys played great ... much better than Bama .. but we still lost.
Kind of like old people living in Orlando. Hell, I might be old....sometimes I forget how old I am. I was probably watching LSU football when you were still crapping in your diapers. Over my 20+ military career I was programmed, "that losing is not an option." From the time the opening kickoff occurs until the clocks says 00:00 he controller EVERY decision that happens on the LSU sideline. Am I going to second guess some stupid calls, yep, but I'll also give CLM credit when he makes good decisions. I just haven't seen many lately. Given the talent we have in Louisiana (I was born and raised there, and I'm an 85 LSU grad), As a fan base I don't know if we should be satified with going 10-2 and playing in the Capital One Bowl or the Cotton Bowl. That kind of sounds like South Carolina or Georgia fans to me.
