All teams have fans of all sorts. From the arrogant, cocky, "we're the greatest" type, all the way down to the pessimistic, negative, "oh my god, we're going to blow it again" type. Some fans know it all. Some are passionate. Some just go for the party. Even though every team has fans from all sides of the spectrum, we usually generalize about each team's fans.....stereotype shall we say.

For me, I was raised a Red Sox fan. So, no matter who I root for, I am always waiting for the floor to drop out and to be disappointed. Winning two world series can never erase my 36 years of suffering.

If LSU leads by 21 in the 4th quarter, i'm still on the edge of my seat yelling at the tv. I've seen too much to be confident. That's what i'm stuck with.

So, if you had to generalize, or stereotype the typical LSU Tiger fan, how would you describe them?

:thumb: Pretty much sums it up.

In contrast to the typical AR fan ...

Even though it probably comes off that way, I'm not trying to be a smarta$$, but if you were raised a Red Sox fan, why do you have a Phillies avatar on the sports teams that you like? I know you're handle is 'Pennsylvania', but I will always root for my childhood favorite teams above all others. :thumb:

I think there's still something of an underdog mentality among our football fans. In the off-season you would see a lot of discussions along the lines of "Well, if we just find a way to win games, and the media keeps underestimating us, then maybe we'll sneak under the radar with a shot at making the NCG." And a lot of "The team doesn't need the bullseye of being #1 with the pressure it brings, we'll be fine if we can stick around the top 5."

Traditionally, you don't see this kind of under-confidence among Bama or Florida fans. And to an extent it's understandable, given the type of wins we've had under Les, and even Saban. Frankly, it's getting a bit tired IMO. We have the talent, and we have the coaches to be an NC contender. And we will for years to come. I wanted to see this team do exactly what it's done this season: dominate. Welcome the challenge of being #1 and defending that spot against all comers. I get the feeling there's quite a few of our fans waiting for some big shoe to drop at some point, and I don't see the basis for that thinking.

That's a fair question. First let me say that I do root for all of the philadelphia teams.

From birth, my father taught me to love the red sox and hate the Yankees. Its my hatred for the Yankees that has turned me off of the red sox a bit. To compete with the yankees the red sox have turned into a version of the Yankees. And that I don't like. In some degree the Phillies are heading that way too.

Given I only live an hour from Philly, I have followed them more closely, but all it will take is another trip to Fenway park, and I will love the Sox again. Its a magical place

I am a confident but rational.

For example, I now embrace the fact that we are a come from behind team, and we tend to win the close ones. When I went to school, if we lost a lead, we lost the game, almost every time. When our O was not clicking, I did not expect us to win the SEC, (last year). After the Oregon game, which I went to this year, it was clear that the O was clicking, and this team would be special.

I guess it was after WVA that I realized this could be the first LSU team that I could see go undefeated. I did not think we could at the beginning of the year because of the tough away schedule. But we can!

    I love it!

Sounds like if LSU wins it all one more time, you may have a serious decision to make.

Well, LSU doesn't have a $170 million payroll. At least I hope they don't.
